Some of you guys let Louisivllles small fan base irritate the logic out of your brains.

North Carolina and Duke are both bigger threats to our throne. We share borders with Indiana and Tennessee.

Louisville will always be a part of Kentucky and in terms of University itll always be little brother to UK.

Stop elevating them higher than they are by acting like they are our biggest rival.

Tennessee has beaten us more than any other school.

Go Vols. I don't think this UT team is that great, but hopefully they can hand UL another loss in Knoxville.
Nope. Go UL. I’ve lived with both and I’m telling you, never root for UT. Trash, FOS, awful, evil mf’s. Hell a small part of UL fans have told me Kentucky always rebounds. They don’t like it but Kentucky won’t be down long. Tennessee fans “WE OWN YOU!!! Nobody cares about Kentucky. You suck *** etc. and way worse.

You will never, under any circumstances, ever, find me rooting for anything but a meteor shower hitting those SOB’s. Louisville is small they’re irrelevant to me. Tennessee is our number 1 natural rival spanning 100 years. I seriously hope bad things happen to that ***** program. Louisville hires strippers, Tennessee forms coed clubs for prostitution for players. They’ll use their own daughters to pull a recruit just to be pimp smacked by bama and the rest. Trash doesn’t begin to describe that retarded group of idiots.

I’ve tried to tell many here, outside of Kentucky nobody knows who Louisville is. Nobody. They have no brand nationally and are totally forgotten. They mean nothing. not worth worrying about. But if you’re originally from the area you’ll think they’re a bigger deal then they are. Louisville is invisible.

Tennessee is our real rival nationally. Put them down like dogs. Never root for that cesspool trash program. Ever. Let little UL beat them I’m fine with that.

Duke and UNC are threats they’re national and matter. They are who we need to lose more than anyone. I’ll pull for UL over them every time. UL can’t rise, they couldn’t get it done with Pitino nobody can win there. Who cares. They are no threat to us. I sympathize with the UK guys that live in Lou and so understand their disdain, but think bigger.

Our biggest rival changes every decade or two. In the 70s and 80s it was no doubt IU. They had us tied for titles in the late 80s. And there was an argument they were just as great as UK. Until we won 3 titles in 25 years. And went to 7 final fours. And totally put that to rest. Since then, you could make arguments for UNC, Duke, Louisville, Uconn, Florida, UT.

And let’s be real. That was only because of Pitino. And no great coach will ever risk it again. If Pitino couldn’t bring them to his level it will never happen.

Crum isn’t even known nationally. Notice he’s never discussed anywhere but Kentucky. Most people have no idea who he is. It’s amazing how much Kentucky just overshadows them.

Pitino’s biggest mistake wasn’t leaving Kentucky. That was his second biggest. His biggest was thinking he could brand Louisville. Should have gone to Michigan or UNLV and waited for Kentucky. He knows it too.

Uconn, Duke, and UNC are on our heels.
Which is why I’m so on the Mitch thing. Too many aren’t paying attention. We can’t sit back and keep hoping for runs while they stack banners. Mitch should have been gone long ago. Half our fans pay no attention to this. We’ve got to stop accepting these garbage results and making excuses.

I'm the same way. I don't think they realize what is happening outside UK. Uconn is on a 1990s UK/Duke run. UNC has a mid coach, but were just in the title game 3 years ago. That could have been 7 titles for them. Uconn is breathing down the neck of their 7th title. Duke has a strangehold on high school recruiting, due to team USA/Nike etc. And were just in the final four. They've made 2 this decade. UK is spinning in the mud. That's why I'm so fire happy. We can't keep wasting more time. Produce or get out of the seat.

Indiana could have been a threat again, if they had hired Dusty May.

Yep. We need to be push push push. I gave mark a shot, he’s not the guy right now. We should be on our run instead we’re doing training wheels why others are steadily gaining steam. The way you have to view this, is like being on a bike turning around seeing 3 F250’s hauling *** at you. Yea we had a 5 mile head start, but we need to be finding a vet and get the hell off the bike. Too many are acting like the bike is fine, we’ll go downhill at some point and gain speed. Well, that doesn’t matter. Those trucks don’t need a hill to gain speed. And we’re about to get ran over.

When you’re the greatest program all time you don’t sit back and play training wheels with your program. You have it or you don’t and if you don’t you fire. This is why Mitch has to go, he’s not the man for a job like this. And he’s creating apathy with many of our fans.

Any other blue blood but Indiana (former) in either sport would have already gotten Mitch out of that seat. Time to demand it.

"You have it or you don’t and if you don’t you fire". Pretty much my way of viewing this. This isn't WKU. We can't afford to take flyers on coaches. We have records to uphold. And a brand to uphold. Otherwise, we end up lost in the woods for 25 years, like IU. They have 2 generations of fans, who view IU as a losing program. Who used to be great before they were born. It's no longer a tradition at IU. But a memory. Like that time U of san fran won 2 titles.

Period. You can like the coach all you want but you don’t neglect the program for it.

I’m afraid we’re beginning that trend. I’m loving seeing the fans come down out there and boo the hell out of this. Keep it up. Produce or be gone. We have a responsibility to the state and all of the fans, administrators, and men who build this program with their hard work to uphold this. This isn’t about a coach, this is about the program. If the program is suffering stop supporting the men who are making that happen.

Completely agree. The program stops for no coach. That said, people are absolutely in their rights to say we don’t have enough subject matter to say one way or the other Pope isn’t the guy yet. You have come to your conclusion, but I haven’t. I’d say you’re very much jumping the gun but I respect the opinion regardless. Wish the fanbase could respect the differences of opinion on this.

I personally am of the opinion that he’s not going to work. Obviously, I can’t read the future. But I think at Kentucky we’re in a unique position where we can’t wait too long. Firing him today isn’t going to happen and shouldn’t. Would I be upset? No. Matter of fact I think it would show we aren’t playing around. But we also have to weigh that with the ways it would affect future hires also. So I don’t think that will happen and probably shouldn’t yet. However, I don’t see it working out well and wouldn’t wait too long. Mark came in at a bad time as Calipari has underachieved so badly in his last 5/6 years, Mark was in a win now situation. He might have taken the job 5-8 years too soon. And slipping this bad in year two is probably going to keep him from recruiting the way he needs to especially given NIL. Just trying to be honest about it. But if next season we haven’t consistently been top 10 and looking at a favorite for the final four you have to pull it unless there are some very good reasons not to.

Mitch doesn’t care if we’re elite. He’ll keep him year to year over moderate progress. At Kentucky, he needs to be a threat for the final four and top 10ish or he must be replaced. If this doesn’t happen and is accepted, we can go head and give the mantle to Duke now.

I don't live in Kentucky, and I can honestly say that I've never met a Louisville fan that I know of. That probably sounds like an attempted insult to Louisville, but I'm being serious.
I say this all the time. I have never met a Louisville fan outside of the state. Ever. They have no national brand. I’ve asked avid basketball fans who their top 10 is just to see, and Louisville is almost always forgotten. I’ve asked these same people about Denny Crum, and they have no idea who he is. Louisville is not very thought of in the state of Kentucky. Imagine what it’s like outside of it.

They mean nothing nationally at all.

What pisses me off the most about Tennessee and UL fans?
I’ve experienced this quite a bit. I have a friend or whatever he is who’s die hard Tennessee fan and when I feel sorry for him after a bad UT loss I’ll say something nice like they are tough team and will be hard to beat in the tournament. Then when his Vols beat us out last year it was F Kentucky they suck yada eventhough we beat their *** twice before the tournament. UL fans are the same way like I can’t have an actual adult basketball knowledge discussion to any of these fans without them resorting back to 5th grade level behavior. You suck! F Kentucky they are cheaters.

I have two guys I work with who are huge UL fans. They’ve been talking **** hard since the game. It’s like they don’t know how to handle a win, and have completely forgotten how seriously we own them. Then football. They are almost intolerable. So go Vols. I hope UT beats them by 30.

I have seen both sides of it. I loathe both teams and fanbases.

I lived in the Louisville metro area for 15 years, worked in Louisville proper for 3 years, and moved 3 years ago to southern Kentucky along the Tennessee border.

Cards fans are obnoxious when they beat us. I have a few friends I used to work with who are Cards fans. I haven't heard from most of them in years and likewise. As soon as the horn sounded on their win this year, one of them blew up my phone with trash-talking texts. My only reply: I know this is rare. Act like you've been there before.

Vols fans are obnoxious 365 days a year. It starts with the color and goes from there. I had the misfortune of attending every UK/UT football game from 1988-98 in both cities. A drunk adult Vols fan yelled "KENSUCKY F'N SUCKS. F KENSUCKY" at my mom and me when I was maybe 10. Every Vols fan I know talks mad trash after they beat anyone. Literally anyone. Sore losers and even worse winners.

Gun to head, go Cards, but official position is F both.

apparently you are correct about Barnhart not being the man for the job.............but who is? Mike Pratt would have been a perfect choice for the AD spot or at least the GM position. Unfortunately, he has passed. I have no idea who could/would take the AD job and bring UIK sports back to life. Football will never win a championship, and it is likely that the basketball program will never win another title either. Calipari should have won at least 2 more titles with the talent that he had, but his inept coaching prevented this. Now, even though everyone says UK has plenty of NIL $, the product on display is mediocre at best. UK hasn't won the SEC title in how many years..........and isn't even close in talent any longer. I truly hoped that Pope would be the answer, but he clearly isn't. It is going to take a Bruce Pearl or Rick Pitino type to bring the program back to the top.
