That was a really ugly game but it is way to early to know how these teams will be midway in the season. Virginia lost 70% of their scoring from last this is definitely a transition year for them,
I think Boeheim is ready to retire I thought he announced it a couple of years ago. Then he decided to stay and coach his son. Syracuse has really struggled the past few years and it looks like another tough year coming. All that said I like seeing Boeheim out there he is one of the icons of college basketball.
He is no longer getting recruits. With the rush to get to the NBA playing zone doesn’t help prepare the kids for the NBA. He hasn’t changed anything about his program for 30 years. He still pissed about being in the ACC. I am surprised he did’t say the Big East wouldn’t ever considered playing a conference game this early.

They had no choice or they’d be like UConn. Football is bigger at Pitt and Syracuse than you think. They have some history.

Entertaining or not. I like to win and I know UVA folks like to win. I truly believe if Bennett stays, UVA is going to be the new Duke type program we hate as K and Roy retire.
They’ll play ugly and their players will be hatable, but dang it they’ll win. Mack can get there, but he needs some big times wins to justify the hype.
Grandson and couple of friends went to the game. He said it was the ugliest game he had ever seen, including his brother's intramural games. They left early.
yes winning is great, and it would be hard for me not to choose winning over good entertainment but man it is boring. He definitely has maybe the best defensive mind in the game.
And Mack plays pack line too. Although theiffense will be better for sure, you never know when we may end up having to play some ugly defense along the way to winning.
It wasn't the move to the Acc that made them worse. I bet Pitt regrets getting rid of Jamie Dixon more and Cuse regrets losing Mike Hopkins. The Syracuse zone has hampered them from putting players in the NBA. Cuse's recruiting decline has coincided with losing Hopkins and it seems more and more like Boeheim is an out of touch old man.
It looks like Uva might be back to its old choking ways. Last year's team was their best offensive team and they played less stall ball than before. Now it looks like they are back to it.
I love looking at a beautiful paint job but can't stand watching it dry. When I watch UVA play basketball, it's less exciting than watching paint dry. Sports is suppose to be fun and entertaining. Bennett while successful has a very boring style of basketball he teaches and I am not a fan of his style. If he ever became UofL's head coach, I'm not sure I could watch the Cards play basketball again until he was gone. Title or no title.
