Refs knew who to get out, 2 quick fouls on him that wasn't a foul. Pretty obvious the ref knew who the key person to get out, Jared had 2 actual fouls. Got him on the bench and allowed Florida to pull way out then they started calling more fouls on them to even out after destroying the day for Vanderbilt.

Huge advantage inside, how could our game plan not be to go inside from the get go? Couldn't hit anything, just what Florida needed not having to deal with us inside. Why do we come out gunning threes, just because we had been hitting well there will be that one or two games in the tournament we can't buy a basket, then what? We lose. MAKE the players go inside EVERY game so don't have to rely on hitting outside shots.

Hate to watch when the other team plays harder and wants it more. Add on crappy refs and a TERRIBLE game plan, just a miserable day to deal with.

I was at the game in Gainesville today. It was 1 of the most timid offensive performances I can remember in recent UK history. Vanderbilt is not, and has never been, a key offensive player for us. We were completely outplayed today. Florida was more aggressive and wanted it more. If you believe we lost this game because of a referee conspiracy, that would make you totally clueless.

When Jared and PJ get in foul trouble and we get nothing from SKJ and Richards we are in big trouble. That happened today and we were on the verge of getting blown out and there are better teams than Florida a head.

It is difficult to play when you have to worry about the officiating. I found myself worrying on every whistle if we were getting called for a violation. Every whistle

Totally agree that all the ticky tack stuff in the first half messed up the flow and got Vanderbilt to the bench (unnecessarily). Without him, we are a completely different team. I hope other teams don't try to get phantom fouls called on him....remember when AD would get called for a foul when he would have a clean block or other play? It's almost as if the ref was anticipating AD would do what normal players do. And AD is no ordinary player. Neither is Vando.

I wonder how differently the game would have gone had Vanderbilt and PJ started. It might be time to give that a try. Not sure we're at a point where we can afford to get down right at the beginning...and that seems to almost always be the case.

Having said that, I am optimistic! Go 'Cats!!!!!

They played out of their ***, we didn’t play that great, and we allowed the hostile atmosphere and adversity to let us revert some. Not the end of the world.

I thought the turning point was when we had the ball on a 13-3 run down 11 I believe and PJ was called on a flop charge and Shai was called on a bogus hook.
Definetely the turning point. PJ’s was a foul, but Shai’s was questionable. Could have cut the lead to 6 a couple of times. Missing 5 free throws during that stretch didn’t help either.

Then we still cut it to 9 before they bounced in a three.

All the things people say are true. We were outplayed for long stretches. They literally took it away from us. Pushed us around.

We also were the victim of some bad calls. This affected our ability to come back (which we've done numerous times this year after trailing early).

I'm not sure why it's so hard for some people to hold these two positions in their head simultaneously. It is possible to play poorly AND be impacted by poor officiating. IN THE SAME GAME.

Anyone who believes it's all or nothing just isn't very smart, really.

Could someone explain how the FL player bouncing the ball off of an already-out-of-bounds-Diallo gave Florida possession? Didn't make any sense to me at all.

If Diallo's feet were planted out of bounds and the player bounces the ball off him, it's Florida's possession. I thought the Florida players foot was out of bounds.

Plus, he had contact with him before throwing it off him, which should have made him out of bounds himself, while he still had possession.

We are a different team without Vanderbilt. Saying the two early bad calls on him had no bearing on the game is a very foolish thing to say. They wasn't fouls, so why did they call them? Just so happen a ref made a mistake twice on of all people Vanderbilt.

The Alexander foul when he drove is the most hyper I have heard Leach get about a call all year. Why did the ref call something so obvious that Alexanders head jerked back from the contact. Pratt was laughing at the PJ call , saying the defender started falling back before PJ even moved. Why would a ref call that if even Pratt could see it was a flop?

I do totally agree it was both today, our lack of smarts not taking advantage of the inside and not playing as hard as them, and the refs. The calls in the first half seemed to discourage us quite a bit. Not to mention our energy guy being eliminated.

I agree that the refs did not beat us today. That said, if you think 2 fouls on Vanderbilt didn’t have a huge impact on the game and offensive rebounds in particular, there is a lot of clueless going around.

Was listening to the Leach call during that sequence. He said the flopper started flopping prior to contact, then he flipped out on the Shai call.

Sure it is, but you have the same threads and posts about bad calls and bad refs when we win by 20. What is the point? Does anyone think whining about it every game will change it?

Those first 2 fouls on Vanderbilt were highly questionable, IMO. He couldn't breath on someone without the refs blowing the whistle. Kind of reminded me of how Poythress would get treated by refs

Twice Vanderbilt was going for putbacks in the early going and missed badly. Both times, he threw up his hands to say, "I was fouled!" So yeah, I think he got a raw deal.

Having said that, the refs didn't miss easy shots, have a bunch of turnovers and get beaten to loose balls. We did. Freshmen don't know how to play thru that but that is who we are.

I think it’s reasonable to debate whether those first two fouls on Vanderbilt were warranted, but he does himself no favors by complaining on every single foul called against him and every foul not called when he’s shooting.

Yeah, like FL's 49.1% shooting from 2 and 41.7% shooting from 3 compared to UK's 41.1 and 37.5% respectively had nothing to do with the game.

Yeah the 2nd foul on Diallo was ridiculous but those guys missed plenty both ways. UF beat us not the officials.

Coach Cal .. please give up on the Diallo, Gabriel and Richards in the starting 5.

We can afford the chance of starting slow or let other team dictate tempo in tournaments.

Green, Vanderbilt and PJ need to start the game or take at least two out of the three and start them.

Oh I agree, I'm not blaming the refs for us losing. But the refs sure as hell weren't doing UK any favors. Just look at that terrible flop that PJ Washington was whistled for an offensive foul on. That play pretty much killed UKs comeback.

I didn't see ANYTHING on the Shai drive in real time, nor on replay. Looks like I wasn't the only one. Just wait, we'll get hit with ******, one sided officiating in the tourney. Guaranteed.
