Good deal. That others will still try to get him shows his quality and UK's quality to potential further recruits.

This is just insane to see this unfold in plain view site of a scholarship player being courted to other schools. What is not to have a school offer a great player on a top team to get millions to leave for a 1 year deal and curtail a season for a UGA, Bama, Ohio St, Michigan, Notre Dame, etc...player. I bet then this insanity will find some way to make rules to end it.

It should be an instant penalty and forfeiture of an entire season to actively recruit a player who is Not in the Portal. The NFL calls it tampering and has harsh penalties including big fines.

Start fining these schools millions of dollars for doing it and it will stop it.

Hope we can find an offensive system that suits his skills.

Imo depends on what he wants out of his career. If he's concerned about top end professional growth, honestly can't imagine a much better situation for him than UK. He's getting NFL caliber position coaching and playing in an NFL offense.

And his numbers aren't exactly lacking either.

His next stage of development is learning to take pride in the small things: running routes hard even when he isn't the primary, blocking, running clear routes, running rubs, on screens turning the ball up field/following blockers (for this very reason our wr screen game actually suffered since we started using brown instead of Robinson).

Finally I wish people would stop asking him if he's leaving. It's getting ridiculous.

I can imagine a lot better situations than UK for him if he wants professional growth. Let's keep pretending otherwise though. Maybe he wants to play on a contender as well?

NCAA used to call it tampering too but the NCAA has given up on governing the sport. College football is totally unregulated. Message to UK is to cheat and cheat and cheat some more. Matter of fact, a "Cheating Coordinator" should be Stoops most important off-season hire.

And that’s a bad place for college football to be in. You cannot sustain anything without rules and regulations. It will kill itself if there’s no rules. I agree the NCAA has dropped the ball on this along with other things, but the cash cow that is college football could dry up if it doesn’t get control of itself

I hope that was said tongue in cheek, because there is still an element in this fan base who would dearly love to cheat just to feel like they run the Department of Athletics again. Under the current rules, NIL (name, image, and likeness rights) is not "cheating". There are still rules and governance mechanisms. They are not being enforced uniformly for a variety of reasons, including the current desire of the NCAA to avoid being targeted in lawsuits because of the massive costs. But any NCAA rule that has not been challenged in civil court can still be enforced. There are certain schools like Kentucky, Bama, Miami, and USC that would get slapped down by the NCAA very quickly if the opportunity arose to enforce against us. Our fans would scream bloody murder in such a case about conspiracies and vendettas, but people who seriously advocate cheating are just asking for it. Thanks in large part to the HL, nobody has forgotten about $100 handshakes and other vain recklessness practiced by Kentucky boosters of the prior generation. Like it or not.

The better idea by far is to play by the rules and win. For now, NIL is legal. Most people here haven't taken the time to read and understand the rule. A UK collective is in business now. I am in the process of donating, and I strongly recommend all of you do the same. Some of you may be comfortable enough to give a lot of money. Others may only be able to give a little. But everyone can give something. The way to do it is public now. Google it. As far as I see it, if you are complaining, then you have to be giving to the collective. If you are complaining without making yourself part of the solution, then there is a word for that. Everyone knows what I am talking about. Step up or dummy up.

I have donated even tho I'm 75 years old and on a fixed income and I'll continue. My donation will provide some kid a couple of #2 pencils and an erasure but I'll kick it in.

Still, there are schools(I'm looking at you TN) who are funneling TV money to their NIL thru booster donations. To think otherwise is naive.

I predict the amount of college sports I will be watching 5 years from now is close to 0 minutes. It will save me a bunch of money just on my streaming service. If you don't want to pay for ESPN you can use other services that are half the price.

I do not see Barion Brown leaving through the portal this year. I am not predicting anything about subsequent years.

Everything depends on what the team knows, or doesn't know, about Stoops' plans for the coaching staff. You might be surprised how much the players know. They might already know, or at least have a good idea, what the postseason plans are for Scan. That would not surprise me. Then most of them might wait to see what comes next. In general, players like Stoops and appreciate the family environment at Kentucky. But Stoops has to do something that tells the players he is dealing with issues on the offense.

Very true, players are much more aware of what's going on within the team than people realize. Guarantee players know who's going and who's staying.

Yep. It would not surprise me if Kentucky loses lots of players in the transfer portal this year. Stoops has already foreshadowed it. Most will wait to see what Stoops does to address problems on the staff. There will be some backups who don't see a path to playing time, and they might go at the semester break. Most will probably wait and see. Spring drills are often the great clarifier.

Maybe I'm misreading Stoops comments but I think he's hinting UK will be losing players but will be very active in the portal. I look for UK to take 15 at a minimum which could be why recruiting has been so passive. I think Dec 5 is the first trigger date.

Yep, I think that is exactly what Stoops is saying.

By taking a small recruiting class, Stoops is signaling he will be taking a larger number of transfers this time. Like you say, he has spoken about it. How many Stoops will take out of the portal must depend on how many leave Kentucky in the portal. We do not know that number yet, and I still think the number will be fluid depending on what the players think about staff changes yet to be worked out and announced. There is not much work to do on the defense, except for the Lbackers and maybe safeties. But the offense has to be almost rebuilt from scratch except for the receivers. Players are bound to see this. It should not take too long before everyone gets a sense of Stoops' solutions. He needs to hit the bullseye. Mistakes at this point could really hurt.

I think Stoops has at least a hint of who may be interested in transferring, both in and out. I said elsewhere this is the most important off-season of the Stoops Era and could set the tone for the next 3-5 years. Very important time.

Just lip service. It will be free agency at end of each season. Highest bidder wins. Hang on. It's gonna get wild.
This tends to be my position as well with some caveats. Just money won't do it and for kids in a good spot, it may take a lot more to move them.

Stoops is bound to have an idea which players will go and which will be inclined to stay. He said he has been re-recruiting his players. But there may be a couple of surprises this year. If I was a betting man, which I am not, I would bet on a couple of surprises. The sooner Stoops addresses problems on his staff, the better things will go in the spring.

Oh he’s gone and I wouldn’t blame him a bit. As of this minute the kid from somerset is the only one in line to be the starter. That’s gonna look Joker era bad next year.
then not to mention that skankarello still has a job. I’d say if he stays in going
