Video Games For Christmas

So what game/s did you get recently or plan on getting for Christmas? I already have Black Ops for XBox One, but I am debating on a few other games. The ones on my list of potential games to get are Star Wars Battlefront, Fallout 4, and Rainbow Six Siege. I have friends that just got Rainbow Six Siege, but the videos make it look kinda boring with just 5 on 5 matches. There is also no single player campaign. Star Wars Battlefront looks interesting but I believe it also is only multiplayer. Is the gameplay strong enough to make the lack of a single player mode worth it? The last game I know very little about. I watched someone playing a previous version of Fallout in the past and I had mixed feelings about it. Anyone have any input on these or any other games?

Star Wars is awesome. The 20v20 games are unreal. Who needs campaign?

I'm in my 30's. So none.

I wish I had time to play. I have games but as a husband who works full-time, goes to school full-time, has a side job and two kids in diapers, I don't get the time to play.

I was never a big fan of the role playing games nor was I ever any good. I had the Arkham Asylum and Arkham Origin and never got to even come close to making a dent in it .

I always preferred sports games and when I do get time, I love me some NHL games.

I am in my 40's and have been gaming since the Atari 2600. Currently I am off work with back problems and will be having surgery in the coming months so I have a lot of free time to fill while wife and kids are away. Plus I work third shift normally and am home by myself and gives me something to do for fun.

Don't play anymore but my son is getting the Halo edition Xbox One.

I will never understand the hype from Halo. I have tried to play that game many times to see what the hype was about and i just can't enjoy that game no matter how hard i try. I don't get why so many play this game as much as they do. Halo will always be the most overrated game in history to me.

WWE16 and maybe NBA2K16. I play mostly sports titles and sandbox games. RPGs aren't my thing and I can take or leave first-person shooters.

I'm in my mid-30s and will be a gamer until I die. I don't hunt or fish or anything like that, so gaming is my only true hobby. And I work a shift where I get off between 11 p.m. and midnight, so it's not like I have anything better to do when I get off work.

All of those games are primarily multiplayer, why not just rent it or something if you want to play a single player campaign? Fallout is a long time consuming Action RPG

I'm in my 30s still play on PC first person shooters multiplayer only...

Those games were great, all had good multiplayers too

There is a new Wolfenstein, new order and old blood they are called iirc, should be able to find cheap I presume they are single player only.

Most people I know who hate Halo were the ones getting their **** pushed in during LAN parties back in Lexington.

Halo CE is pure FPS excellence. IMO, when taking general physics / game play and also skill required to excel in the game, it's the best ever.

Will be running hoes in the weekend Snipers playlist on Halo 5 later tonight when my kids go to sleep.

Gamer till I die, bia.

And as Kooky mentioned, COD is most certainly played out but I just have a thing for the series...probably own every one through Advanced Warfare which I got last year.

BLOPS3 is tempting but I just can't do it.

Might get Madden 16 and NBA 2K16 this season.

I don't have time to play games a lot anymore. Working and back in college, and I am also more of a Tv show/Netflix person now that I have gotten older. Don't get me wrong, I love to binge play a good video game for a few days to a week every couple of months but once I'm done with it I'm done. Rambling aside:

Fallout 4 is a possibility. I played Witcher 3 a lot for a month straight earlier this year, RPGs are worth your money as well. I also played Dragon Age Inquisition and enjoyed it...got the Uncharted trilogy remastered and the Tomb Raider game remastered recently, but those types games are fast plays.

I also like the AC games...but refuse to pay full price for them AC Black Flag (Pirates in the Caribbean) is fun and probably cheap now, and AC Unity (In Revolutionary Paris), while not great, is not as bad as it was made out to be. AC Syndicate is the new one set in London if anyone is interested in that one.

GTA 5 is a must get if you love fun sandbox games, and The Last of Us is great as well I hear, but I have never played it.

I own a lot of these games, but again, once I'm done I'm done so I am not really sure I am doing the smart thing buying them, even for 20-30 bucks when I should maybe look into renting most instead. I digress.

Played the siege today. It was pretty fun because it is a different type of game. You can't just run and gun on it, you actually have to set a plan up to keep the enemies from getting to the objective. After about an hour and a half playing it though, I got pretty bored with it.

I've played fallout 4 a little bit and it's a pretty good game just not really the type of game I like playing. You craft weapons and can make your own barracks to keep the other people out.

I haven't gotten to play battlefront or the new tomb raider yet but they both look very good. Just Cause 3 looks good too

Madden is always a good option. I like FIFA too.

Currently playing Fallout 4. If you liked the previous couple, you'll love this one. It is slightly less RPG from a stats standpoint but the weapons/armor is much more customizable.

I like games. They are good. I play GTAV and NBA2k14 sometimes. I'm behind in the gaming times, but I don't know any better. I used to murder fools for hours on COD4; that was my peak.

Team Fortress 2.. it's free and still kicks ***.

SW Battlefront got mediocre reception. Hoping it was good.. But just isn't. It tried to be Battlefield and just wouldnt budge on being so tied to starwars lore. With Halo, COD and other AAA games coming our for the holidays, no ones going to be playing Battlefront unless they are diehard SW fans stroking their wookie.

A buddy just showed me the trailer for Quantum Break for Xone... Looks pretty fantastic.

I got the new tomb raider, it's good, however they will never be as good as the originals.

You can't go wrong with Fallout 4. This is the game of the year. I think the 2k16 games are good for one player or co op. those old Grand theft auto games are classic, always fun. Everyone of those.

I'm already on season 3 with my Niners for Madden 16.

In my 30s so haven't played a videogame in a couple of years, but always think fondly back to the videogame times when I was a teenager during Xmas - was something I would always look forward to, playing the new game in my pajamas all xmas day. Would love to play some of the new madden, or NBA 2K, or mario kart, or mario (if those are even still made) for old times sake one of these days. Great memories.

Fallout 4 is a possibility.

I'm in my 40's and I have to make time. Late at night when kids in bed or weekend shopping trips, I'm on it.

I'm a Fallout guy since F2. F4 is my new fav by a mile over NV. It is so good. So addictive.

Preston Garvey reminds me of Joker Phillips.

I am hoping to get an Xbox one soon. Mostly for the media capabilities but also to play a little NBA 2k and madden from time to time.

Can't buy 99% of games because I have 2 young girls in my house. Used to love the gta series, but from what I've seen, the content of the new iterations makes the hot coffee fiasco from back on San Andreas look like an episode of mr. Rogers.

Me and my brother would always do this. I can remember hating to have to let my brother have a turn on Mario 64 when I was wanting to play shadows of the Empire on Christmas break in 1996.

Recently hooked it back up and bought an extra controller from half priced books to play with the wife. Wanted to get a copy of mario kart 64. Can you believe that it goes for $300 on amazon?

Same here. Between the work, my kids, and two of them playing travel sports, there is not time for anything.

If I do get a chance to play any, I go to the sports games. Used to play Madden or NHL games all the time.

Son is getting an xbox one for Christmas and his main reason for wanting it is for the new star wars. I'm wanting to try a good fps but hate for COD to get any more of my money. May switch to Battlefield.

NBA 2k16 is the best sports game I've ever played. Other than the terrible Spike Lee "movie" on mycareer, it is all awesome.

If you have Mario or Doney Kong games then they will always be worth something. Nintendo 64 console with a few games and controller could get you from $60-125. If you have two controllers and Mario games I would try and sell it all at $150.

Same with the NES but you may get more with those games.

I am an avid gamer and can tell you which games are worth buying this Xmas.

1. Rainbow Six is a must have, my favorite Xbox one game. Tactical shooter, way different than COD, less run and gun, more about team work and using strategies.

2. Star Wars is a most buy for me. Nostalia of the game is almost worth the price alone plus with all the DLC that has been announced it will definitely be worth it.

3. Fallout 4 is one of the highest rated games of the year, unfortunately it is a single player game only and I don't get a chance to play a lot of single player games.

4. Gears of war and halo five guardians are two of my favorite classic Xbox games and using the Xbox one GPU makes the games better looking than ever.

5. If you are into single player games then I highly recommend the mad Max game and the Batman Arkham knight game from my experience those are two of the best coming out this year

6. If you are into racing games then you can't go wrong with the need for speed game or Forza motorsport six. Forest is more of a racing simulator while need for speed has a story driven campaign with the classic ability to upgrade your car up and unlock your parts and accessories by racing against other underground racers, both have online capabilities so it's basically your preference.

7. If you are the type a gamer likes the action adventure and Puzzle type games such as Indiana Jones or Laura croft or like the uncharted series then I highly recommend the rise of the tomb raider, it's been getting high reviews on all the major sites and from what little bit I've played my game is amazing and it has beautiful environment.

8. Now last but definitely not the least are the sporting games and this year the sports games are at the top of their game I highly recommend that any basketball fan to purchases NBA 2K 16 also get, Madden 16 is the best Game of the series.

Here is a list of the games that I have purchased this holiday season -

Gears of War Ultimate edition, Halo 5 Guardians, COD Black Ops 3, Assassins Creed Syndicate, Rainbow 6 Siege, Fallout 4, Batman Arkham Knight, Mad Max, and Nba 2K16.

I ended up getting the Rainbow 6 Siege game. Just have mixed feelings about it. It can be hard for me to play after getting used to Black Ops 3. It plays so slow compared to COD. The rounds don't last very long and if you unfortunately get killed early, you are stuck just watching everyone else until the round is over. It reminds me of Search and Destroy mode on COD.

I am not a big fan of sitting around doing nothing so it is hard to like it because of that. Plus the controls are so slow that when I go back to COD, I have a hard time adjusting back because of how high I have the sensitivity turned up in COD. It can still be fun if you have a team with everyone using headsets and you work good together, but I think it still needs a COD style team death match mode that lasts for like 10 minutes and has unlimited spawning if they really want to pull in more players from COD. Very few people on my friend's list actually play this one compared to COD, so I can't imagine this game will ever be much competition for COD. I probably will try the Star Wars game next.
