The data re CFB viewers by time of day (EST) seems to suggest that noon is not a high viewer slot. Seems like the 330 and 7pm EST times are better for big games. Why do networks fight for noon slot to have high profile games? if you have an team like USC playing OSU at noon, it is 9am for the USC team also. Not going to get their best game.

anyone in this business or know their logic?

Part of it is the lead in. More viewers fir the 12noon est on fox are likely to watch the fox kickoff show.
Fans will watch any time. Most 12 games aren’t big matchups. When they are the do well.
Also it’s not a zero sum game. Just cause you put a big game at noon doesn’t preclude putting another one at 330 or 7/8. The goal is to maximize ALL the times

The noon slot is Fox making their big push into CFB ratings. They are avoiding the competition at the other time slots and intentionally putting their best game on at noon from the ones they pick from.
