Got to play with an HTC Vibe today.. if you think its difficult to get your kids out of the house now, VR is going to take plugging in to a whole new level. I was pretty amazed at how far along this is, the immersion level was beyond what I expected.

I've been reading a lot about the Vive but I believe I will wait for version 2.0 in a year or so. By then there will be a lot more content available.

There is little doubt that VR will explode in the next few years and, while its really cool, I think it's mostly a negative.

There is little doubt that VR porn will explode as well.

I am still waiting for a stand alone option. Some of these require plugging into a beefy computer to run them. The ones that don't only use the power of your mobile device and don't do much.

Yeah your looking at about a 2000 dollar investment total to run the thing now if you don't have a desktop that can handle it already. All of the cables coming out of the back of your head is limiting as well. I think the next step will be wireless transmission from the PC or gaming rig, then of course as you say a stand alone wearable option. I bet we are still 3 or 4 years away from that (for an experience that can match the vive).

We are close than I thought though, cool stuff.

Agreed Cowpoke. Technology similar to what you see with Playstation Move and XBox Kinect could be used. Just have the headset stream the video and audio sources from a "console" of some kind and use the controllers and headset as points of motion.
