Walls coming down. What exactly are they keeping? Sad when you see right there all the space occupied by the softball field, which would give the university all sort of flexibility to build something really really nice, brand new, state of the art. Small or larger. But brand new.
$110MM is a lot of money, especially when you already owned all that land. Ask De Paul. They only had $70MM and even had to buy the land.

Wow, that must have been some softball game! I hope it was the Wildcats knocking down the walls with all those home runs.

Giving credit where it is due, pic came from NU softball who is pondering what to call a home run that enters WR through the hole in the wall.

My guess is that they're still keeping the rest of the walls. That hole may just be to get major equipment into the building.

According to the Preliminary Plan the submitted to Evanston, the only wall they are keeping is the South wall. They will have new facades on the other three, including windows which should brighten up the old barn during daytime!

Well, they may be referring to the non-load-bearing fillers between the load-bearing elements (columns, bearing walls, etc). If they were to tear down 3 out of four walls that would by a virtual demolition, which would make the whole thing even more ridiculous (just demolish the remaining wall, and start from scratch, in that case).
