Co-founder of Steely Dan. Dead at 67. Go with God, my friend. You didn't know me from Adam, but your music got me thru my divorce and for that I will be eternally grateful.

OMG!!..One my all time favorite bands. I have been listening to their music since I was a kid..God is taking away all of my favorite musicians..RIP Walter Becker..I spent many a night in high school driving around with my buddies listening to Can't Buy A Thrill, Countdown to Ecstasy and Pretzel Logic..Aja and Gaucho got me through some times when I needed it..I was stunned when Gregg Allman passed and now my man Walter Becker is gone..Makes me think of my own mortality. It is a sad in music for me..

Steely Dan is my #1 favorite band. Not even close. They were supposed to play Grand Rapids in October and I had tickets. Not sure what that means now.

They got a name for the winners in the world
I want a name when I lose
They call Alabama the Crimson Tide
Call me Deacon Blues

(one of my favorite lines from any rock song)

Steely Dan was one of those bands that I largely ignored when I was a kid, and only about the time I hit my mid 40s was when I realized how damn good they were. Wish I had followed them more closely when they were in their prime.

I have a hometown friend who moved out to LA in the early 80's to seek his fortune. And found it, not as a musician, but a producer of Bluegrass and Country. To use a 70's term I turned him on to Steely Dan. I text him this morning when I heard the news. One of my all time favorites.

My fav Steely Dan tune. Many radio stations omitted the organ riff which made the song too long for radio.

If only for a moment...he captivated an entire nation by asking one simple question.

Good night, sweet prince.

I just saw Donald Fagen play in Cincy a few weeks ago and was super excited about seeing Steely Dan in October. Bummer.

Major loss. Very tight band. Never miss a note. That said I figured Donald fagen could bite him on the neck and make him an immortal.
