I recall an early offer, but I don’t think we were ever in the picture. He’s pretty good.
... funny story about that ...
Haywood, when does the staff look at a high school transcript as part of the recruiting process?
I assume there are several reviews of grades during the entire process, but when is that first checkpoint when the staff makes a go-or-no-go decision?
Is the staff very engaged with a family before they look at grades, or is it an early part of the process before they get to know a family?
Also, is admissions part of that early process? Or do they simply get a thumbs-up/down approval near the end?
After two years, did both the Carmody and Collins staffs have a pretty good idea of the academic requirements needed? Or are there too many moving parts in admissions for the coaches to get a good handle on it?
I wonder how much this hurts us in recruiting? No one likes to fail, especially teenagers. I can see this kind of conversation causing a young kid to convince themselves I don't really want to go to NU anyway as a protection mechanism against the possibility they might not get in academically.t
kids are recruited early and transcripts are reviewed. sometimes there is a "if you want to be here you need to do this, this, and this in upcoming year"
