I watched that game last Friday, and I don't know what Doc is eating these days, but it's a hell of a lot. Must be trying to fit in better since it's the fattest city and all.

Best decision ever! And dare I say thank you to the then meddling Governor who pulled Ed’s strings from time to time.

What has it been 10+ years?
The fact that he sat in the press box with Jeff Mullen and didn’t kill him told me he does not know offense at all. He was the FB/TE coach in an offense that didn’t really use a FB or TE (and don’t say Johnson cause it was an anomaly). I never understood how he was in contention to be hired when he wasn’t ever a DC or OC his entire career.

to not hire Doc as the HBC...a bad one?

DOC known more for his recruiting skills at NC State and Florida. If he had been named HC we would be in a hole so deep we never recover.

Not sure how DOC would be HBC when he's never coached basketball. So what exactly is HBC if you are not talking basketball?

Perhaps one of the best in the history of Mountaineer Football. It matches the worst hire - Dana.
Dana wasn’t the worst hire ever. He won a lot of games to snort as much as he did. Plus WVU didn’t bother to play defense but on a few occasions during his tenure.

Frank Cignetti wasn’t even the worst and he never even had a winning season through 4 years.

Thomas Trenchard back in 1896. He ruined us with a 3-7-2 year. And the cubbard wasn’t bare either. WVU was coming off a 5-1 year from one of the original HBCs Harry McCrory. Talk about a what if scenario? What if WVU would have ponied up to keep Harry McCrrory back in 1895? McCrory left the pigskin and got involved in drugs for the $$$$$$.

what can I say I’m bow hunting for the midnight rider and bored!

No, the worst hire was at 3am local time in Glendale, AZ by Eddie Pasthisprime. Bill could have named any position he wanted outside of HFC. Mike Hamrick saw a chance to get that one win against WVU when he hired Doc. If Tron had not fumbled, Bill probably would have been chased out of Morgantown sooner than was planned.

What got me about that entire game was 1/2 of that Marshall staff and GAs were former WVU coaches and players. Yet our brilliant offensive staff waited til mid way through the 4th qtr to start using beach towels to try and hide offensive signals as the sideline was sending them in. I remember a statement from the WVU brainchild about how we don’t steal signals from the other team. I thought ‘Well you might want to next time try and prevent the other team from stealing yours much quicker’ cause that game should have NEVER been even close.

It was so obvious the Marshall defense and sideline was calling out the plays for over 3 qtrs. The last 2 drives to tie it up and send it to OT were totally just winging it. That game was a comedy of errors on both teams.
