Was the Purdue win the worst thing that could have happened?

Seems like they got full of themselves after that game, And instead of being humbled in the games that followed, they went into denial and started blaming each other.

I think that's part of it, but mostly Pope just swing and miss constructing this team. We outkicked our coverage last year, and I thought Pope was our guy. Then after Purdue, I felt sure of it. But he hasn't handled this well at all. Seems like he needs the perfect situation to do well. That's not likely to happen seeing how he can't get ANY recruits. None. We might be ever worse next year.

The Purdue win we looked pretty good. But something changed with this team sometime after that. There is an obvious tension on this team. They do not seem to like each other. There is a cancer on this team and it's killing our season.

I wish somebody would just leak what actually happened before the Louisville game. Maybe whatever happened is so bad it answers EVERY problem on this team and let's us lol forward to next season. Probably not though

YES!

The truth shall set you free.

We all know that lawyers are like buzzards circling a rotting animal, and I'm sure Pope can't say what really happened out of fear of being sued. So we'll never know.

I don’t think this is a super talented team but they’re definitely more talented than what they’re showing. Not giving Pope a pass at all but he has shown in the past that he can be a very good X and O’s coach. The way they played in the Purdue game looks completely different than how they are playing right now. It just makes me wonder if they’re truly is turmoil and the players just don’t get along? They certainly don’t seem to be cohesive on the court.

And they beat Purdue without Jaland Lowe. I mentioned it earlier in this thread, but whatever happened before that UofL game must have been apocalyptic. Pope must have known then and there that the season was shot. The Louisville post game and walking into MSG for Michigan State Pope looked like he was a dead man walking even then. I never saw him this down last year even in bad losses.

I believe the cancer is Oweh. He was completely disinterested yesterday, especially during timeout huddles.
I think it’s the money. I have always believed college players should get some of the revenue, but in no way should it be the amounts we are seeing now.
Pope needs to try and salvage the rest of the season and his future at Kentucky. He should dismiss Oweh, Dioubate, and Aberdeen from the team and roll with the rest of the roster for remaining games. It is time to excise the malignancy from this team.

Aberdeen and Oweh clearly don't have any love for each other. Oweh refused to give Aberdeen the ball even though he was wide open and clapping his hands calling for the ball. Oweh drove to the foul line and threw up a brick instead of feeding a teammate.

I made a post about him a while back that was deleted but it was factual. Still no clue why the moderators deleted it. He was definitely the initial culprit, now it’s festered and a few others are a problem too. People will say well Oweh is our leading scorer etc but that doesn’t mean he is a net positive on the team. I know enough to know and still stand by what I said in that deleted post, he should have been and still should be removed from the team. Coaching staff lost control and to get it back you must have expectations and standards as well as accountability and consequences.

Georgetown handled us pretty easily just a few days later. So I don’t think the Louisville “locker room” incident was significant. We just suck.
This is correct. The issue came early in the season over playing time and the mishandling of egos. It’s really that simple, too many ME players instead of TEAM players. Louisville game and the locker room beforehand changed nothing.

Aberdeen was out against Georgetown so I always chalked that up to they didn't have anybody in that game that was remotely close to a point guard. You do seem like you might be in the know on some things so if you're right and it's really that simple then damn what a failure from this coaching staff. Was hoping the Louisville locker room was an all out brawl, coaches and players included, that would explain everything.

And Lowe did the same thing to Oweh on that last play, too. And to Kam. Supposedly, the play was for Lowe to drive then kick it to Kam. Oweh had the hot hand and was wide open but Lowe, bad shoulder and bad shooter and all...takes a contensted long jumper instead of running the called play and/or the right play. Really bad look imo. That's the stuff he did at Pitt.

and to pile on….Oweh should not be a championship contending program’s top NIL player.

There was no Purdue win, because we never played Purdue in a real game …just a glorified practice scrimmage.

It meant nothing then. It still means nothing now.

Fools gold. Painter didn’t care. Georgetown was a true red flag though.

Yes. Cats just beat the number 1 team. My Colts were 8-2. That was a good week. I miss that feeling.
