Its a good get for UNC. I noted his quote in the press ... "Coach ensured me that the basketball program would not be touched and it had nothing to do with them."

That is either informed confidence or hopeful ignorance.

I totally agreed DJ. There was a time when UNC fans would've been happy about signing a 4 star recruit but not over the top excited like they were when Brandon Robinson was about to announce and they were sure he was going to choose UNC and once he announced he was going to UNC...you'd think that they just won the Powerball or MegaMillions Lottery with him committing to UNC.

I really would like to hear the spiel that Roy is spouting.

Roy is back...and he means business. Yep, he's a Steamroller, baby, and he'll roll all over you.

The most disturbing thing about this commit is that I believe one of Gary-7's predictions came true. Sure, he was wrong the first 893 times, but he's on a monster roll here, almost as big as Roy's.
Now on a serious note, it's a good pickup for them (especially considering the situation).

Depending on the type of player he is, I won't write him off. I agree that this is not the type of guy they used to celebrate over, but if he fits the system well, he could be a good get.

To be fair Gary's predictions can't be wrong. Because he always leaves himself an out. Like with Giles he said that he wouldn't be in the least bit shocked if he picked Wake, but that he wasn't making this his official prediction. There you go, can't be wrong.

I wouldn't be shocked if I win the powerball, but i'm not predicting that I do.

When I read the NOA, men's basketball indeed looked fine. I think you've got your hopes set way too high if you're expecting some massive penalty against men's basketball. We can wish it to be, but I think Roy is probably right.

I have no expectations of some massive penalty. I don't think that will happen. However, in the 18 years that are cover the period of the scandal, I am to believe that Coach Williams through his assistant coaches, staff, players, players' parents, AD, professors, friends, UNC personnel, janitors, house-keeping, and alumni -- to make a statement "it had nothing to do with them" is a bit naive.

^ Agreed. Men's bball is going to get anything of consequence, but you would have to be the blindest of naive homers to think Roy was unaware. If you look at the amount of players he had, particularly in his earlier teams (including the 05 title team) that took AFAM classes or were all-out AFAM majors, it would be a tough point to dispute.

Absolutely. He knew damn well of everything. there isn't a big time coach in the country that is as successful as someone like him and not know every single thing your players are doing. POINT BLANK. They won't get anything, but he knew everything. But hey, K, is an ******* right.

I don't think there's a single reasonable person, UNC fans included, who don't know damn well that UNC will be quite fortunate if they don't face any penalties. Nobody can believe that the basketball program wasn't knowing about what was happening. Nobody.

And I'll preface what you said....yes, the basketball program was fully aware of what was going on behind the scenes. And maybe with a blind eye to it, but they knew.

But I do give Roy and his staff a pass on the PJ Hairston thing. That, unfortunately, does happen at more schools than we think. I think PJ was just so dumb that he became very careless.

In a article from The News And Record out of Greensboro, N..C. Robinson says he has been assured by the UNC coaching staff that the men's basketball program is clear of the academic scandal. OFC

I would be satisfied with a loss of scholarships for three years. That would hurt their results on the court for the foreseeable future

See i dont think it does at all. you get 13 scholarship players and hardly any team uses them all. at most they'd lose 3 (i don't think they'll get any penalty at all) and that still leaves them with 10 scholarship players. to me it does nothing in hoops- in CFB that's another story.

Tomorrow if they lose three schollys per year for three years it would be very hard for them to persuade top recruits to commit .I would like to see them hit hard but imo this is the only thing we can hope for
