For all of you guys that like to argue the housing bubble on here, I think this is a pretty good movie. Adam McKay does a really good job directing this.

Between this and Too Big to Fail, I think they captured what all transpired fairly well.

Yes, they did and it is an excellent movie. I deal with (not the big banks) banks and their finance depts daily and am exposed to their financials. Mortgage backed securities are still happening but not to the effect as it was. And due to Dodd/Frank in which I am a supporter of, the speculation of the MBS is greatly reduced. However, I am still concerned over the bond rating system and they are still an issue in my book. And the credit analysts that are vital to trading are some of the most crooked individuals on the planet and remain so. Individuals and individual investors rely on this information and it is untrustworthy, imo.

Haven't seen it yet, but it's definitely on my list. Pretty amazing cast.

Amazing that a guy who makes some of the funniest movies can do such a good job on such a serious subject.

I'll say this, my wife and I weren't in a position to take advantage of the bubble or were even substantially affected by it. We were only into our second year of marriage when all hell broke loose. With that said, we've aggressively attacked in the aftermath of this. There is a lot of money laying around for the taking right now.

I sold a house at about the peak of the bubble and moved back to WV.
I subsequently put some money on gold knowing that the crash was coming and gold would go up. Tripled my investment there.

However, I divorced in 2008, so didn't have the funds to really be able to take advantage of the low stock market at the time. I still did OK, but could have been much better.
