as someone that has purchased hoagies from Wawa while visiting Florida, I liked that they didn't change the name of one of their main takeout items.
I love Wawa, but since I quit selling turf I don't get to them anymore. The ones in WPB and PBG are ghetto and far away. I'm in a Wawa Desert. My Wawa exec tailgate friend told me years ago you'll see a Wawa in Williamsport before you'll see one in Jupiter. He was right. All about the price of the real estate down here.

Wawa in Tampa doesn't sell hoagies, they sell subs. Ain't no hoagies down here in Florida.

These clowns down here don't know from hoagies.

How much does a hoagie cost at a WaWa?

I’ll do some comparative research but I am shocked at the cost of breakfast and lunch fare at
Buc-ees while traveling.

I think Buc-ees thrives because of their clean restrooms suckering travelers into purchasing their overpriced food and other junk.

Depends on the size, and also whether you order things that cost additional (extra meat, extra cheese, etc.)

Size:
Junior (4" roll)
Short (6" roll)
Classic (10" roll)

Standard Price:
Junior - $4.19
Short - $5.89
Classic - $7.49

A hoagie in Kentucky? This is what we’re up against.

EDIT: Apparently, Wawa pulls this hoagie horse-a$$ in Florida, too.
About 20 years ago I was bringing a load of heifers out of Kentucky back home to PA. Stopped at gas station around Morehead Ky and asked the clerk for one of the "hoagies" in the display case- got a blank stare like I just uttered some word in Russian.

It’s a sub.
Not sure where it’s going to be in KY, but growing up in Jersey all the Wawas by us were dirty and trashy.

Just don’t call it a grinder. That’ll really confuse them. For me, I grew up with the words submarine sandwiches (subs) and hoagies that were interchangeable for the same type of sandwich. Then I went to Penn State and got introduced to the word “Grinder” for the same thing.

The one here is Delray Beach is nice, its just out on 441 so a bit of a pull from the beach to get there about 5-6 miles. Sometimes the craving is too great and I make the run out there and get it especially if I am running errands I order on my phone app so its ready when I get there.

IIRC, Grinder is/was a toasted sub/hoagie. Well now it is a LBGT dating app. You should be careful using the term Grinder or you might get a 12" outside of your order.

The older, smaller Wawa stores without gas stations are often dumpy. The newer, larger stores are usually clean.

This has been my experience too. Both in MD and NJ the ones with the dozen gas pumps or more are pretty clean but the stand alone stores were always trashy, it doesnt matter the neighborhood either. A nice neighborhood in Annapolis has the stand alone one and its a dump, while a big gas station near a not so nice section 8 area is super clean

I'm not LGBT but I've learned it's spelled Grindr. Maybe the missing "e" has some significance, I don't know. Tinder has an "e" though so maybe it something. Weird fact - Grindr crashed during the Republican National Convention last summer in Milwaukee. Not trying to be political but it's just a fact. Latent desires being pursued, I guess. Or maybe they simply wanted to order sandwiches and didn't notice the missing "e".

The world these days...... 🤷‍♂️

Buc-ees food is overpriced and overhyped. Their restrooms are always spotless and their soft drinks are a bargain but that's about it. I prefer WaWa.

Just realized Publix is now in Kentucky w/ one location just south of Cincinnati. Other than Wegman's - which isn't a neighborhood supermarket, northern supermarkets suck compared to Publix. They are also in NoVA. Places like Giant better up their game if Publix is coming for them.

Just had one open up here in Lexington a couple of weeks ago with another opening soon. Too expensive for me.

My Daughter is at QuikTrip Corp HQ in Tulsa. They are expanding into Kentucky as well with their first location under construction in Elizabeth Town KY Lincoln Parkway and US RT 31. Should be some fun competition with Wawa etc.

Shop the BOGO's and follow the weekly ads. Duke's Mayo becomes cheaper than Walmart.
So I went to Florida for some R&R and also did some apartment hunting. I get tired of eating out all the time so occasionally for lunch, I'll get a turkey sub from the deli at Publix or a pre-made fruit or vegetable salad, etc. So as I was in there wanting to get chocolate milk for my coffee each morning they had a bogo on toilet paper. It was a really good deal, but I still have almost two weeks of vacation left in Florida, Alabama and Tennessee before heading home.

So as I'm heading to the checkout, my brain said, "that's a really good deal and toilet paper doesn't spoil." So I bought some, put it way back in my trunk, and hauled it all around the southern U.S. before heading home, and I signed up for Publix' shopping program.

As a side note, my oldest son lives in Virginia and his closest supermarket is a Wegman's. I have a difficult time coming up with things to get him for Christmas so I wanted to get him something practical as well as frivolous. Being a parent, hoping he'd not always eat out I'd buy him Wegman gift certificates but my closest Wegman's was in State College, so this year, I could wait till the playoff game rather than buy them in November and now a Wegman's is coming to Cranberry Township so I don't have to go to State College any more to buy him those gift cards.

PUBLIX is great but certainly not in the lower price end. Quality products. Always go to one when visiting family in TN. Friendly, helpful staff. One thing I don't like is paying the TN sales tax on food.

The thing that sets them apart as far as customer service goes is that they are employee/family (in that order) owned. The employees care because they know that if they opt in to all the private stock options and do a good job, they will retire a millionaire - whether a cashier or a GM.
