I tried to tune in to the WBB game today. Reports said it could be seen on the "Espn App" - Cool......

Earlier last year, fall of 2024, one of our FB games was on the ESPN app also and I just put the smart TV on the ESPN app thingy and launched it. Had to do a device verification code thingy.....and all was well. Same Spectrum Internet. Today when I did that, and after the device verification thingy, I got an "Error message" saying essentially that I couldn't watch it and to call Spectrum internet at a 855 #....... at that point, I gave up. What gives?

The espn app on smart TVs is pretty wonky. Try logging off on the app and then logging back on; that will usually do it for me.

How does the app on a smart TV compare with the app on a streaming device?

The ESPN is a major pain the a$$ when it comes to watching anything on it. Without fail, I have to sign back in every single time I want to watch something.

I couldn't find on any ESPN feed in Hulu, and I usually can. I watched the 2nd half on a pirated feed on YouTube. There were three to choose from. My daughter discovered this because she's in Ireland and can't do the ESPN+ thing there.

I had the same issue trying to watch the baseball games this weekend. Kept telling me I had to log in, which was weird because the smart TV has "remembered" ever since I put in my info the first time. I'd click my provider, then put in my info & it kept telling me it wasn't valid. After about 10 attempts I decided, "screw it."

In order to watch yesterday's game, you had to be subscribed to ESPN+. There are some things that you can watch on the App for free. However, there have been about 4 or 5 WBB games this year that you had to be subscribed to ESPN+ for. It was a blowout game anyway, so you didn't miss anything. Fulwiley and Edwards were the standout players. Paopao did okay. Everyone else was mid.

I watch ESPN+ on my desktop computer. Not saying it's as good as my larger HDTV but my monitor and speakers are pretty good.

Pro Tip: Hook your computer up to your HDTV - and get a wireless mouse and keyboard.

Been doing that for about 10 years now and it's absolutely awesome. To get between TV and computer, it's a simple remote click of changing the inputs.... My "monitor" is a 77" OLED. It is spectacular.

The ESPN+ games were likely against a non-SEC foe either on the road or at a neutral site (which is technically on the road, of course).

I think that's a great idea. I also think it would lead to insurrection at my house as the wife hates being relegated to the 40" Samsung upstairs.🤣

Here's the plan - tell her you're going to take her shopping for a new TV for the upstairs because you know she doesn't like that TV. Take her to dinner too...... don't mention your plan. At all. When she gets good and used to the TV upstairs, quietly make your switch. Get rid of / cleanup your computer area and make *THAT* the excuse for switching things.

Or.... and / if she doesn't like that when you do it - as someone else said - just say "Ok honey" and move the computer upstairs to the new TV. Key: Play dumb. Must act as if it's not a major deal and be completely surprised at her pushback. Must act as if you thought she would be pleased with the new arrangement because you "cleaned up." - Or (insert your own BS here)

HDMI cable.
@KingWard - This..... before you do anything, you gotta make sure your PC is equipped with a graphics card that outputs the signal with HDMI. This is becoming less and less of an issue as the years pass but if you have an older computer with a VGA output - you can get around that with a VGA to HDMI adaptor. Besides that - you just need a wireless keyboard and mouse and you're in business.

If you don't have a SmartTV with a bunch of available apps, you can just hook a Roku to your TV. They only run you about $25. Brings any HDTv into the future and you won't need the computer.

I have one, in fact, I have two. The better of the two is the object of a territorial dispute.
