We’re fine

We just didn’t get it done today.
Think they played with a little more sense of urgency because they just lost at home. We made some errors and bad judgments that we can get better at and I feel we’ll learn from. Great coaching notes from this stuff. They have an All American PG that’s been there for 10 years it seems. They hit much better FT% than they normally do. All in all, they just played a little better than we did, but that’s ok. It’s easy to see we can play with anybody, that’s all we want as fans.

Go Cats, we’ll get them next time!!!!!!

I’m having much more fun watching this team than a Cal team. Wait until Pope has even better athletes with higher ceilings. I hope we always have shooting but he’s gonna get some teams here soon. I still believe this team can make a deep run though. I love this squad. Practice defense and play hard.

Similar feeling here. Came into this season not expecting a whole lot with the situation the last coach left us in. I think what this team and staff has done in such a short time is amazing. Going to enjoy the rest of this season and looking forward to future teams under Pope.

We played a good game against a good team.

Just a few plays here and there and we win.

This game won’t make or break us.

Our defense is much improved. Our defensive rebounding is the problem.

Doesn’t appear to be fixable with this cast of players.

We would have beaten almost any team in the country today.

There was one we didn’t.

A&M, Florida, and Georgia are all top 13 in the country in offensive rebounding. Bama is 18th.

Agree we need to get better on the defensive glass, but we’ve been playing a string of opponents that will make you look bad.

What worries me are things that should have been fixed easily. Mostly center around effort. 50-50 balls are not even remotely 50-50 with Robinson, Brea and others. Oweh and Butler are going to go at it but the rest not so much.

Williams playing lazy when it comes to his passes at the top of the key. For every solid back door pass he makes, he is sloppy on another. Williams basically pouts and gives minimal effort if things get tough for him.

I’ve never seen a team “ball watch” on defense as these guys versus going and getting the ball when it comes to rebounding. Outside of a few it’s almost like they look for someone else to make the play.

Pope didn’t have a lot of time to assemble a team so hopefully next year and years going forward he will address.

True. But we are not a good defensive rebounding team.

We have gotten better but it’s been a problem since the exhibition games.

The nerd numbers will say that Williams is a decent rebounder. He is not.

Yeah we needed them to drop that UGA game today. I believe we can win at their place too. I think we should try and shut Nelson and Sears down and dare someone else to beat us.
Easier said than done!

You are correct. We play at a fast pace and Williams has a lot of rebounding opportunities. But his effort on the glass has been subpar most of the time, imo.

I don't think Auburn is a deep team. I think speeding them up forcing them to chase us all over the court will be the key.
