We desperately need a new athletic department and vision for the future

So many issues with our athletic department. We’ve been irrelevant in basketball for a decade. Ridiculous lifetime contracts for the football and basketball coaches, NIL is a mess - can’t recruit, no interest in making Rupp an intimidating arena, can’t get decent Wi-Fi or sound system in the football stadium and it goes on and on. It’s well past time for a change.

If we have to fire Pope after after this year, UK will have spent the following:

Salary Year 1$5.00M
Salary Year 2$5.25M
BYU Buyout$6.00M
Pope Contract Buyout (after Year 2)$12.94M
Total Cost to Kentucky≈ $29.19M

Add $38M for Stoops’ buyout and total invested of around $170M total during his tenure, and I’m not sure how this administration is allowed to touch the checkbook anymore. This doesn’t even take into consideration the disaster we dodged with Coach Cal.

I agree, UK for the past decade has been completely irrelevant in many aspects, right now we have the women’s volleyball and cheerleading, other than that, mostly every other aspect of the AD programs have underperformed, even UF pulled off a CBB title…it’s where things are at.

Barnhart needs to be fired immediately and sent out. The president of this college, an Alabama grad, cares nothing about UK sports. They’re excited to be building YET ANOTHER BUILDING for DRAMA.

This is an administration from hell. First ever to take from sports to give to band.

They are landlords who love sucking in sports money for pet projects to get their names on buildings. They’ve been doing this for years, but ncaa rules handcuffing other programs made the playing field easier for them to compete. It’s over. This is professional sports and they don’t want all of this outside money going to sports. They want it coming to them. Barnhart is a hatchet man for men inside this administration. He’s not looking out for sports he’s looking out for their interests. And that’s probably why he’s survived 23 years as an AD here when he’s been terrible. He has his orders and winning big aren’t his orders.

Well, 23 years in a position like his is a long time which tells you he’s comfortable and not at all worried about the decisions he made. Hell, he was so happy when Stoops beat Auburn this year after ten straight SEC losses that he hugged him on the field and nearly gave him a reach around. Basically happy to wallow in mediocrity until he’s forced to make changes, dude has destroyed our athletic dept.

Yall just lie about NIL being a mess when you don’t even know the difference between NIL and revenue sharing. Like always we know you couldn’t say how NIL was a mess if your life depended on it. Just fighting KSRs war against UK. You are obsessed with attacking UK and it’s NIL without ever giving a dime to it.

Highest paid roster, just got a commit from a former LSU pledge with an elite offer sheet all with NIL being a mess.

Then please explain how our NIL contract with JMI ISN’T a mess. I’ll hang up and listen. You do know we just got LSUs former OC right? That might have had something to do with the recruit flipping.

Well they signed a contract with Hunt Brothers Pizza to bring in truck stop pizza at a basketball area in Rupp after the Papa John's contract ended.

how do we owe pope $12.9 mil if fired after this year. What I read was his buyout was 33% of remaining owed contract. so 4 more years was like $23.5 mil and 33% of that is like $7.75 mil or something. You could be right, i just want to know how the number is calculated because I saw 33% of whats left and maybe i'm missing something.

  • For Kentucky (If they fire him): 75% of the total remaining annual compensation, paid in monthly installments.
  • For Pope (If he leaves for another job):Owed 33% of remaining salary, dropping to 20% if Athletic Director Mitch Barnhart leaves.

Block him. He’s a mole for either the administration or JMI. He’s been outed. Do not communicate with him everyone needs to go right now and put him on ignore. P

Explain how a vague accusation isn’t true? LOL. Explain how it’s a mess, you can’t. Matt Jones is warring with JMI, he said it and other people on message boards adopted it so it must be true.

NIL is a player getting paid for their name image and likeness. They get NIL money through things like endorsement deals, appearances, having camps and clinics, social media promos, signing autographs, promoting local restaurants, and collectives paying them for one the above. JMI
and BBN Suite does NIL with the hundreds of UKs official partners that allow them to use UKs marks and logos. They still have all the of other NIL options available to them and don’t have to use JMI if they choose not to. NIL deals are guaranteed and aren’t performance based. How exactly is it a mess? Y’all never give a specific explanation of how it’s a mess or a problem, if you did we could have a real discussion about it. None of you want to have a real
discussion tho, Matt Jones and his KSR minions have so much control over this fanbase that it’s a core belief now. A core belief that none of you have any tangible evidence for.

Mitch has been afforded way too many opportunities to fix his **** ups with the basketball and football teams. Keeps landing on his ***. Way past time to cut the head off the snake and go in a new direction!

We are currently the worst basketball and football programs in the SEC. Barnhart wouldn’t make it anywhere but here. They’re not interested in winning big and have absolutely no idea how to compete in an era like this. The governor needs to become involved for the people and pressure needs to be applied. If you don’t get this president and AD out of here we will never be able to compete in the NIL era and it’s over.

I can’t read it I only know he’s here, everyone block verbal Skint. He’s just a troll or probably a mole out of some department. Don’t read it and don’t respond to it. Put it on block. Nobody is that out of touch with what’s going on. Nobody.

Best thing to do with those types is block them and don’t respond. He’s not here to do anything but say stupid crap to get people to buy into nonsense. He’s a propagandist.

Imagine thinking having a bad season means having the worst program. These message board frauds are a joke. This one thinks Mississippi State has better basketball program than Kentucky. That’s how dumb these clueless frauds are. Anything to trash Kentucky even if it’s a lie or utterly moronic.

Yeah, if you want to lie, have moronic takes like Kentucky has the worst basketball program in the SEC, or spew one of your usual lies you should block me.

I can back everything I say. You’re the propagandist Mr UK has the worst basketball program in the SEC.
