Been too long since we got a new commit. Hope the dominos will start to fall soon.
Well, we have to be selective with only 8 or so spots left. And when you are recruiting 5 star guys like Sarell and Lewis you have to play the waiting game. Guys like that aren't announcing until Jan at army All American game. Patience grasshopper.

We are at a #25 team ranking.. I don't think that is too bad at this point. If it were in the 30's, I'd be complaining. Curious where others think we will end up? I'd be real happy to see up get to around 15th or so. We always seem to get a bump at the end.

My guess would be top 15. If we land Sarell and Lewis I'd say top 10. If we close with rahyme johnson, damion daniels, chevin calloway, Alaric williams, trajon cotton, and or jamire calvin, Donovan peoples jones, or jaylon Johnson. Also in on a rush end from a juco. Andrew van ginkel?

And Peoples-Jones is the only one on that list that doesn't seem very realistic. We are right up at the top with some big time recruits.

IF WE keep winning and performing at a high level; the group may surprise. With hitting the top ten; the side comments about the rating amongst the accolades the recruits mention of their visits, leads me to believe; that the ratings and momentum are ruling to good effect.

We've positioned ourselves very well with a lot of talented guys and most importantly had a ton of them visit. But all that matters is how many commits we have on signing day.

That's it? Huh who'd a thought that if the Huskers sign Fat Joe, Ashy Larry, Tron, Shady Grady, Donald Trump, Rosie O'Donnell and myself would be all that matters?

I was under the impression that Quality had some sort of role in all this, must just be me though?

Shady grady you can't trust, and Rosie is too slow. Don't forget Johnny bananas. He gonna be a good one.

I would say at our current ranking and based on the 8-10 spots we have left, we should easily land in the top 20,and that is a great big honkin' improvement over the Pelini years. Hell, if we land a 5 star, we may even land in the top 10. I am very happy with what we've got and would really like to see us pick up a few more soon, but yeah, I think you guys are right to point out that because we are after higher quality players, we sometimes will have to play the waiting game on a lot of their commits.

Why are our fans our own worst PR enemies?? For F$@% sake, chill out and let the dudes do their job. And what the hell does our last coach have anything to do with this topic anyways? Fail.

There is some relevance in that comparing the two shows improvement in this area, which is what we are all looking for across the board. However, mostly it is done to run him through the mud because he is a really unlikable person who had no business being a head coach at NU.

I don't understand why the same people who tell us "still a long way to February. Only matters until they sign." Are the same people that want verbal commitments in October?

Pretty sure he's saying that the visits don't mean much if they don't sign in February.

Because it's a weird balance thing. Good recruits beget good recruits. The kids (mostly) don't want to go be the only star player on a bad team. So you need some big names to sign on early, because you don't wanna look like the party with no girls at it.

At the same time, a lot of the elite guys wait until the very end. So if you want to land them, you can't get itchy and close down your class in November.

Many elite guys do wait until the end. Many do not. We do see the Alabama's and others of that elite status land a few big fish.
When Riley gets us back into elite status, as I think he will, we might just find that we start landing some really big fish early too.

Yeah I mean that and also who cares how many commits we have on October 13th, what matters is signing day. I don't mean literally how many people we have is all that matters, I've been pretty adamant on here on a number of threads that talent wins and that recruiting rankings are the best, although flawed, measure of determining that. So I'm basically the opposite of quantity over quality and you will never hear me talking about how JJ Watt was a 2 star. Although Fat Joe might be good for the brand, if he's eligible we could use one of the 85 on him. Tron is too skinny and way too rich to care enough about his game, he can pay his own way if he wants N.

I haven't been following recruiting closely this year. I have seen where some of our recruits are holding off announcing until after they complete their visits. So late November/early December maybe we'll pick up some more, or maybe sooner, who knows.

Straight-line trajectory puts us around 25th. If I had to guess, I'd guess around 20th give or take a couple.

I look for a top 10 finish, I see Nebraska trending way up,, lot's of interest from high profile players, connections with Dads, great press for our O-line, coaches you can trust, Les Miles kid, KJJ, endorsments, players feeling "at HOME" great signees already.

So many positives.

Even if we don't finish with ten wins, I still think we finish strong. I think the perceived direction of the program is more important at this point than total number of wins.

You are correct. I still think we finish with 10+ wins, but anything can happen and the perceived direction of the program is definitely UP!

Sarell is a pretty big long shot as well. Calvin, we were supposedly in the lead for but now that will be a dog fight.

According to some sources, Nebraska and Stanford are Sarells top 2 right now. He loves the staff and program. His relationship with Coach Cav who offered him first 3 years ago at OSU could win out in the end for NU.

---Five Star OL Foster Sarell has narrowed his list down. Has told all the other schools thanks for the offer and time but you might as well move onto your next target. However, Nebraska IS NOT one of those schools he has told that too. Coach Cav visited him during the bye week last week. Cav has a terrific relationship with his whole coaching staff and his parents (much like Matt Farniok last class. They loved the trip to Nebraska. Right now it seems like Nebraska and Stanford are his top two schools.... Per Nate Clouse on Unsportsmanlike Content.

If Nebraska finishes off their class with average recruit points as now they likely finish between 13 and 20. Even if they get all the big name targets they want it is very unlikely they finish above 13. Unless they have to take 2 and 3 star players for their last 8 they will finish at 20 or above.

We don't know what ranking the points get you. And it's still early to try and get a decent guess at our final points. You quoted me, so this is just my explanation.

If we use HBK4life's list (the whole list, all 11 of them), that might get a 5th ranking (just to set a ceiling). If you subtract out the 5*'s off the list, that might get you 15th. A simple ratio (15 recruits, 1360 points) to 20 recruits gives you a little over 1800 points, and puts you in the vicinity of 25th.

We don't know who we'll sign. Do we pick up the Lamar Jacksons, or do we lose the Dez Fitzpatricks. Have to wait and see, it's too early to try and estimate a final point number. You use "Nebraska" and "they", so I'm guessing you're not a NU fan, which is okay by me. If you pick a rank or number, I won't argue with ya, they're all guesses at this point.

Here are the current top 25 in points per recruit
Team PPR commits

OSU 156.2 17

Georgia 137.8 15

Obviously class size will play a factor but based on this 13 to 20 is likely. If Nebraska landed Holmes, Shelvin, Sarell, Lewis, peoples jones, johnson, calloway and williams their PPR would go to 107.4. Landing all of them is very unlikely so getting into top 13 is very unlikely. If they finish off the class similer to what they have now top 20 is likely based on the numbers above.

No I am not a Nebraska fan. I am a college football fan and Oregon state fan. I have been reading pretty regularly here since Riley took over. The Oregon state board that I usually posted on has been down and the others have little discussion. I enjoy message board discussion, numbers and possibilities so i get my fix here where tgere is a lot of knowledgeble fans and discussion. So I guess I am now an adopted Nebraska fan.
