Ugh, such a list of unexciting opponents
I think TU would be favored in every one of these games

As great as the AAC has been for Tulsa, with great TV coverage & ranked teams in our conference, our bowl lineup is just not very good. Last year, we had the good fortune of the Independence Bowl becoming available late, & we got a very good draw (Virginia Tech). Let's wait & see where we end up this year. I do hope Aresco gets us better bowls in the next cycle.

If you look at the AAC bowl lineup there are three ACC tie-ins, one with the SEC, and one with the B-12 they just aren't projecting us in any of those.

Win the conference and I guarantee we will get a good bowl matchup somewhere.

Somebody with more free time than me should figure out how much money in potential payout Navy and SMU beating Houston and knocking them out of the playoff contention cost TU by forcing them down into a lower bowl.

If we win out including the AAC championship game we are in the mix for the NY6 bowl. WMU and Boise St have stumbles left in them somewhere...heck BYU had Boise State beat until their boneheaded coach ran a fake punt from their own endzone up 6? Who does that and still has a job?

Houston was never playoff worthy so it is a moot point. One or more losses were inevitable, including Louisville coming.

On the other hand, TU as American champ with two losses could have an outside chance at a NY 6 bowl. Just need Boise and Western Michigan to drop one. Navy almost certainly would lock a NY 6 in that circumstance w one loss.

I believe the payout for NY6 is 18 mil which would mean 1.5 mil per school right? Championship is another 22 mil, but Houston would have never made it to the championship. We or Navy still could pull the 18 m if the cookie crumbles right. Each P5 conference gets 50m without even sending someone to the NY6. So if Baylor falls on the sword and doesn't get to the NY6, all the Big 12 teams get 5 m for doing nothing. The Big 10 will get 50 m + 18mx2(If Michigan and Ohio St. go Ny6) + 22m.(If Michigan/Ohio St goes to the championship) Thats 108 m split 14 ways, almost 7.75 m per team.

My weird gut feeling has TU v. Kansas St. in the Armed Forces Bowl. Would this be a sweet match-up? TU Football: 1st,last,always!
We would kick the crap out of KState. Their offense is worse than inept.

Navy is contractually obligated to the Armed Forces bowl...and if Navy gets the NY6 Bowl, I'd bet good money Houston would play a Big 12 team in Ft Worth.

The entire state of Louisiana, that would be a tough matchup. ;0)

Which one? Lafayette or Monroe?

I would think Monroe might have something to say about that! Thanks for the clarification.
