Week 7 of the rankings. PSU wrestlers competed in the Collegiate Duals (2 duals for PSU). Several other teams were also in action since last week. Blaze and Duke were the two biggest movers in the rankings for PSU. In addition, several of the rankings returned Josh Barr to their rankings, after he wrestled two matches on Saturday.
A reminder that: 1) different services treat freshman (RS or True) differently at the beginning of the season, 2) different services rank a differing number of prospects per weight class, and 3) computer generated rankings usually are off a good bit at the beginning of the season.
A reminder that parenthesis are listed at the end of each line to show what the ranking was for PSU in last week's rankings. Duke's ranking is the most inconsistent (i.e., has the most variance) between the different ranking services. And Shapiro's return to college wrestling did impact how much he moved in a few of the rankings.
Also, this is the 1st week of the season that I'm generating the Averages. I'm always to tempted to hold off on them, to allow the computer generated rankings more time to acquire data (especially important with freshmen and those that are injured). However, last year I generated the initial Averages 1st week of January, so there isn't a great difference from this week. Plus, for the most part, the computer generated rankings aren't that far off from the non-computer generated rankings.
Note: the ranking services are inconsistent about putting out rankings over the holidays. If only half of them post them next week, then I'll not post a Weekly Review for 12/30/25.
