For the love of Mike, please don't get this thread deleted by going off on vaccine issues.

Wondering if anyone else here is experiencing any weird, lingering symptoms. I have one.

I had very mild covid back in 2021 I think. Only real symptom was losing sense of taste/smell for a week. After it came back, though, it wasn't fully normal. Some things smelled weird...particularly meats and eggs. Bacon and eggs I recall smelled very weird, but tasted normal. In general, though, all meats had a strange uniform smell. Over time, though, that all seems to have gone back to normal, with one exception.

I still have one lingering issue that I guess will never go away: caffeine free Coke Zero tastes terrible. Coke Zero is my primary non-water drink. And, in the evenings, it was caffeine free. After covid, all soda tasted a little off, but the caffeine free Coke Zero just tasted like straight-up chemicals (ok, yeah, I know it IS actually chemicals, but you get my point). Like an industrial cleaner. Regular Coke Zero tastes fine now. But I have several cases of the caffeine free in our pantry that I guess I just have to throw out. I cracked open a new this past week and it had the same terrible taste.

Ah, well, just curious if anyone else has experienced anything similar (or different!)

My wife had some similar issues. Can't stand the taste of mayo now or really any creamy sauces or dressings like ranch etc. She said mayo was the worst of hers. Tasted like "mucus" were her exact words. My son who has lived off peanut butter for 12 years couldn't eat it for like 6 months after he had covid. He is finally back to eating it again.

Mayo I could do without. Ranch would be a greater inconvenience.

How old is it. Check the expiration. If it’s like 1-2 months before expiration I threw some out for the same reason.

Caffeine free Coke Zero does taste horrible. My daughter said sweets tasted metallic to her for a while.

Wife and I both had covid in July of 2020. Mine was way worse than hers, but she can't stand the taste of Dr Pepper. Used to drink it all the time, but after covid, she says it tastes like cough medicine.

Perhaps covid just fixed your taste buds? Coke zero is just bad.

Seriously, I have not had this issue. I didn't lose my sense of smell, but for a time every warm meet or warm food product had a FOUL smell to it. It was more than a little annoying. Thankfully, it went away.

Don't be dogging my Coke Zero now.

I can't drink regular Coke anymore...just tastes like straight sugar syrup.

Diet Coke is too bitter in comparison.

And I don't drink booze, so Coke Zero it is.

I had issues with regular Coke for about a year following my bout with COVID. My symptoms were relatively mild but once I did get my taste and smell back, my Coke tasted like someone had used it as an ashtray. I just recently could drink Coke again and it taste normal but I no longer drink it since I went so long without it. That has been the only thing that I noticed changed for me.

The problem isn't Covid...it's Coke Zero. The stuff is just bad in general! Drink the real stuff!

I've had issues with my right lower back since I had it in October of 2020. When I had it, I had a fever, sore throat, lost sense of taste and smell, but the worst was my back. It felt as if someone kept punching me in my right lower kidney. I've had an MRI done of my back and nothing has been found. I've tried 3 different mattresses, currently using a Tempur-Pedic and that has seemed to help some. Currently doing physical therapy, working out, and seeing a chiropractor. Hasn't been fully healed since before Covid.

I have a lingering issue, but not taste related. For over a year post covid, I have had lingering post nasal drip. It's just crazy, but it all started with the covid onset and hasn't stopped. After all kinds of imaging and testing, I've been able to pretty much control it with antihistamine nasal spray.

I have a sister-in-law that had it along with 9 of us at the tailgate of the USC-Clemson football game in 2021. We all got the antibody infusion within 24 hours or so and none of us experienced problems until her symptoms never went completely back to normal. She says she stays tired and has a general "feel bad or sick" feeling that still continues. Long covid has included many unfortunate people but she still works and goes about normally most of the time.

Don't know if it's related, but each time I've been sick (flu or such) since covid, that bone weary feeling has come back hard. I don't remember it being like that before, but it could be in my head.

I too am a Coke Zero drinker. I have found that the taste is inconsistent, depending on where you buy them.

I had it in Jan 2021. Lasted about three days…worst headache I’ve ever had and absolutely drained. No other symptoms. Since then, I do have trouble concentrating, have more frequent headaches, and get tired (not breathing, just no energy) a lot faster and more often.

That is an interesting one. But I think I would label that as a lingering covid "result" rather than a "symptom." lol. In the big scheme of things, it's probably a good thing that caffeine free Coke Zero tastes disgusting to you. I used to drink Coke Zero almost exclusively (like, 4 or 5 cans a day). A few months ago, I forced myself to start drinking water (bleck!) for most meals along with a small glass of orange juice or grape juice at some point in the day. I generally feel a lot better, sleep a lot better at night, and haven't had to take a Tums for heartburn in ages.

After I had Covid the cough lingered for about 2 or 3 months. I was beginning to think it would never go away and that my throat or lungs were damaged. But it eventually faded away. I never lost my smell/taste.
Had covid Dec 21, still have lingering cough.

I had the brain fog followed by the the two glands on the back of your tongue swell up so bad I developed a stutter. It literally hurt to talk and it took several days for those glands to calm down and go back to normal but once they did, I still had the stutter. I just turned 50 in November and never stuttered in my life.

I generally am a free talker and will talk to you about anything but I noticed if I got anxious or
flustered I'd immediately start to stutter. (I couldn't have that crap) - So, through sheer willpower I made a conscience decision to slow down, breathe, and re-speak what I just said if I stuttered. It was like "No, you stuttered, start over." - It's been over a year now and it rarely happens now and even if it does you'd never know unless I pointed it out. I know it's there and I know when it happens and it still annoys me to no end but I think with a little more time I have completely re-wired my brain to have it gone.

**EDIT** - As a bonus for having the brain fog and not remembering things, I had the pleasure of re-remembering my 20 yr old son had passed away from Cancer *AND* that my friend and wife that I had known for 30+ years also bailed. Don't ask for life to kick you some more. It will happily oblige. I'm good now. Single, and getting a dog. True story and GO COCKS!!!

I caught covid at our tailgate along with 9 others. I only felt bad one day when I went to get tested and came out positive for it. My infusion worked wonders and I'm very glad. I have asthma and that doesn't get along well with covid. I was terrified of it and basically became a prisoner in my own home for almost a year. The first time I ventured out was to attend that game, and that's all it took for 10 in our group to catch it.

Damage to the small olfactory (smell) nerves in the cells of the nose/sinus. It can happen with other viruses besides COVID, as well. The length of time varies from person to person as does the severity of the problem. In the worst cases, it can be complete and permanent loss of smell/taste. Others, like yourself, recover but have an altered sense of smell/taste. People have said food tastes "burnt" or like ashes - even things like chocolate or ice cream. Not much you can do for it. Some people take zinc supplements, but that doesn't work consistently for all.

The discussion is not about vaccinations…it is issues from having Covid. Whether you have had the vaccinations or not…you certainly have to worry about catching Covid…and the long term after effects it is Causing some people.
Like more covid. LOL You guys are hilarious.

Had covid in Dec. 2019, before it was widely known as an issue, after a trip to Disney (lots of Asian visitors there during Chistmas holidays). Lasted only 2 days and I was fine.
Family members who went to Disney in 2020 came down with it and I was exposed. Started to have some chills and icky feeling so I took a 3 day course of HCQ and Ivermectin and felt fine the next day. Still have some lingering nasal congestion and drainage pretty consistently but I think it is allergy related rather than covid.

My guess is these companies never went back to their original formulas after they got the green light to use inferior ingredients during all the logistics problems. They're saving money so our health and satisfaction be damned.

My neighbor contracted COVID a second time, and the last episode was really bad. That was about a year ago, ever since he has developed shortness of breath, so much so, that he his winded just by going up or down the stairs.

I (70 years old) tried to return to swimming after 10 days since Covid. I swim about 5000 yards a week. First day back I had similar back pain...in and out of chair, walking, picking up light boxes, etc. I thought of kidney issue too. Relief factor has helped much. I may return to the YMCA next week. Hoping this works out....
