Two UK coworkers who constantly dog the football program finally got to me whining about Mac Jones and how UK is never going to compete. Could not take it any more. Bet both $50 each we go to a bowl this season. Got 4 to 1 from them. Got to happen. Year 4 with Mark. Feel we added quality coaches and this is our best staff. Mark has to have gained HC experience and be better in game. We have recruited well and replaced the roster. Barker has to step up. QB has to be good at UK not just a game manager. D line and WR as well. Just gotta be this year. I have to believe Mark feels some pressure internal and external to produce and he will be pushing hard. The other positions are solid. Got a good feeling. Go Cats!

I like your chances,we have to get a break or two but we are due(probably overdue) in that area.I don't think the schedule is as difficult as some make it out to be.It comes down to the QB spot and what Barker can give us,if Johnson is durable enough he could be a factor as well

Well, you definitely screwed up there.

If you had gotten hold of andrelGUOD------ and a couple more of our posters I'm pretty sure you could have gotten at least six to one. I still really like your bet though, I think the odds should be about even, maybe even in your favor, four to one is great, but then I think the over/under is only five, so who knows.

Gambling is always a gamble.

May the odds forever be in your favor.

I think it was a decent bet. Not a slam dunk but decent. I think we get there.

My confidence levels are currently as follows....and subject to change.
4 wins or less 10%
5 wins - 25%
6 wins - 30%
7 wins - 25%
8 wins or more - 10%

As I have said on several other threads, I think 2017 will be Mark Stoops' breakout year. In 2017, Stoops should have 19-20 starters returning, plus both kickers. By 2017, Drew Barker will be an experienced starting quarterback, the receiver crew will be dominated by seniors, the offensive line should be much better, and our defensive front 7 will also be an experienced bunch. On paper, our 2017 team looks much better than our 2016 team. Anyone can do whatever they want with their money. 4-1 odds would make the bet more attractive, but I would not bet my money on our 2016 team getting invited to a bowl game. I know mine is not the popular view here, but I see 2016 as Stoops' last rebuilding year, and 2017 as his 1st bowl.

You rate the odds of winning the bet at roughly 1-2. Yet he got 4-1 or roughly 8x what he should have. That's s about a slam dunk bet you're ever going to find. And I agree with him, FWTW.

You understand that Murphy's Law will now take effect thanks to your wager. We were destined for an 8-4 season and a glorious bowl destination; now you have doomed us to yet another 5-7 season. Thanks OP.

^My thought was just that I think there's a 75-80% chance of us getting 5-7 wins. Then, of course, you have to allow for extremes.

Let me get this straight. You got a hundy down at 4:1 odds that UK can win 6 (i.e., make a bowl) this year? Can anyone else get in on this?

JMO, but if the Cats cannot win 6 with these players against this years schedule the program is simply not where it should be after 4 years. Forget about the 5 games that look like to steep a hill to climb and think about the other 7. Other than a wave of injuries, very bad luck or "history", is there really any reason why this team cannot win 6 of these 7 games?

I'm about as "conservative" ([laughing]) a poster as there is on this board and I see 6 wins. If not, I see a pressure cooker of a season in 2017.

Peace

Hopefully the staff problems are resolved. Hard to win when your coaches aren't all on the same page. Stoop's has some strong recruiting years coming online as well so I'm hopeful that even with the tougher schedule this year we can manage at least 6 wins. It'd be nice to see us win a game or two after the mid point of the season. I also have to believe Stoops is feeling some pressure. A lot of the fan base has been very patient, but 4 years in it's time to see some results.

I'd probably assign approximately the same numbers.

Kentucky is Over/Under 6 wins on 5 Dimes right now. It was 5.5 last year so the books see some improvement even if some fans don't.

I'd like your chances a lot better if Commonwealth weren't cursed by Bear Bryant and built on an Indian burial ground. ;)

Nice bet. Not sure if it will happen or not, but it's basically a coin flip and those are good odds. Most proffessional gamblers would take it in a heartbeat.
