And did not drop our misery index number.....good lord that was that pathetic. We improved our "close game" winning percentage.
Absolutely not. I always want our teams to win.Would most people have been happier with a loss? I would have. A necessary step toward change.
Not by much. BTN said ( I think 4-26) in close games with these guys over their careers. Now 5-26.We improved our "close game" winning percentage.
I never root for a loss just to induce a coaching change. If a coaching change is the right decision, a single close loss or win vs Rutgers doesn’t change that.Would most people have been happier with a loss? I would have. A necessary step toward change.
Oh, but this wasn't the same thing. There was a whole new set of screwball decisions by CC in this one.... Keeping Collins is the definition of madness which is doing the same thing over and over and expecting the same results.

thinking you belong on the Rutgers Board.Would most people have been happier with a loss? I would have. A necessary step toward change.
I'm not trying to scold you, FYI, but I do appreciate the follow up. In pro sports, I do sometimes root for my team to lose (never to induce a coaching change, but for draft position in a lost year), but there's basically no situation in which I root for NU to ever lose because there's no draft system to provide benefit to it. Just my perspective. You're right and I shouldn't post in anger. The players are trying and deserve our support.

Yes that and there just isn't a tangible benefit to losing in college (in fact, any losing only adds to the long term consequences to a program, 6-10 is always better than 5-11, etc) whereas in the pros, there is (7-10 would be tangibly better in the draft this year than their actual 8-9).I agree with making the pro to college distinction, but for a different reason -- our athletes sign up for the toughest academics in the Big Ten, a routinely brutal schedule, and a lack of overall tradition. And they don't get paid. The least we can do is stick to coaches who are very well paid and need to do a lot better.
First off, I come in peace. Devastated by our loss last night, really gut wrenching mostly when we’re trying to battle back into the tournament hunt.. when it comes to Big Ten teams, I always root for NW clearly you guys have a good team and have ran into some bad luck with a ton of close losses. You would think that we would destroy a zone, especially against a team as small as Rutgers.
Put Young down low, occupy Omoruyi. Nance somewhere near the free throw line - Rutgers has no one to guard him, so he can shoot right over his defender or dump it down to Young or kick it to a shooter outside or drive to the basket and have Young wall off Omoruyi.
Omoruyi can't guard two bigs at once.
Instead, Nance and Young played zero seconds together.
Alternative 2. Put Nicholson down in the blocks instead of Young and have Nance lob it to him.
That approach doesn't work with Beran in the high post because he has 4 assists in 276 minutes of conference play. Thats right, one assist per 70 minutes.
He can't play the low post either. And he doesn't want the ball.
Williams in the high post or the low post - either way. He is a good passer.
So many easy answers... and we couldn't solve it.
