Were there good candidates out there when Mitch made his decision?

I can't remember?
not the right question. makes it sound like Mitch is just a victim of circumstance. it's his JOB to have a list of candidates and to put together a package than wins their commitment. he didn't have much of either - both when Brooks left and when he had to fire Joker.

No, as much as some want to think this job is a top job it isn't until someone turns it around.

I called my Dad the minute they hired him and I heard the story of him calling us and saying he wanted the job. I told Dad that he made that calling looking to seal his family's financial future. The BS about making UK a contender was BS to get what he wanted: Finanical Freedom for the rest of his life. He got it. He looks like he'd rather get fired, get paid yet again and go back to being a D-coordinator.

Mike Leach was available. He has a terrible Washington St 6-3 with a win over Oregon and a 2 point loss to #8 Stanford.

dont forget, that was hot on the heels of that BS with Craig James' kid - so not only was he avail, he wanted to come here, he could have been gotten on the cheap. but even thought it was obvious Joker was in over his head, Barney felt he needed to give him more time. A more disastrous, shortsighted and costly miscalculation you could not make!

Mike McIntyre, Butch Jones, Petrino. Leach was already at Washington St - he should've been UK's coach in 2012.
