Without knowing anything about this project other than it’s a hockey arena, it could be perfect for the university and the greater Kalamazoo area. Hosting regionals occasionally? Concerts? If it’s dual purpose, that would seem to benefit other sports at WMU.Private donor? Jesus what a waste of money.
Wild times we are living in. People are paying tens of millions for 10 minute rocket rides while cancer research is being cut.Private donor? Jesus what a waste of money.

But yeah, that’s a lot of coin.

“…built with imagination not a budget.”
Neeli be like, “That’s our line!”
Exactly. Heard last week that patients in some cancer clinical trials are having the trials cut before completion due to funding being cut. Cuts sound great until the patient getting the funding cut is you or your family member. But, hey, at least celebrities can briefly go to space for millions and plaster their faces all over media about it.Wild times we are living in. Well, it’s michiganistan, and I didn’t want to include the lesser areas of Kalamazoo. Plus, I heard some guys had gals in Kalamazoo. There’s a greater area in Kalamazoo?
I read that they were limiting indirect costs to 15% and that actual research would continue. I have no idea how that will play out.Wild times we are living in. People are paying tens of millions for 10 minute rocket rides while cancer research is being cut.
I certainly don't have the answers to all the world's problems but I think it's unfair to criticize the women who took a short trip into space. You could just as easily argue that people shouldn't spend $1,000 to take their family to a football game or $7,000 to take your kids to Disney when the money could go towards cancer research or feeding the hungry.Exactly. I stand by my statement. Joyrides to space for the uber wealthy are over the top first world luxuries.I certainly don't have the answers to all the world's problems but I think it's unfair to criticize the women who took a short trip into space. Why does it matter who paid as long as you/taxpayers didn't pay?Not at all similar or equal. Even if most of these women paid, and I'm suspicious that they did, the minimum is somewhere around $250,000.00 each. These flights have been bid on for as much as $2bn. So, taking your family on a $7,000.00 vacation, even if a good chunk of your disposable (or not) income, is not the same as plunking down $250,000.00 or more for a two minute space jaunt, especially since someone like Katy Perry is worth $350mm.

Principal. And really, taxpayers have paid for this. Blue Origin has received about $1.5bn in government subsidies the past five years.
