It's a great song and deserves a high ranking but I don't feel that it is #1. Top 10, maybe, but I don't think it is #1.

I was listening when Toxic by Britney Spears played ahead of Wild Horses during Mel Fishers show. I was thinking it was super random and she came back on air still laughing about it. It all came down to the voting but it was so entertaining, particularly with the history they gave with many songs, that I listened all week. Yes, I donated too.

I wouldn't put Purple Rain in the list of 500. To me it's a boring song. The screaming lead is the only part that is listenable, imo.

Interesting list. Noticed one song after 1990 in the top ten which is the one song that'll always get that recognition and one song from the 2010's in the top 20. Songs like 'Everlong' and '1979' will continue to climb. IMO 'Everlong' will be the next 90s hit to begin making the top ten portions of these lists. Here it's at 45. I'd probably add Joplin's 'Cry Baby' and 'Ball & Chain' and Pink Floyd's 'High Hopes' to the list as well. For the 2010's and beyond, these will be some of the artists you'll start seeing on these massive lists: Lana Del Rey (222 here), Adele (173 here), Bruno Mars, and Billie Eilish. While I'm honestly not too familiar with three of them, I do like Del Rey.

I love Purple Rain but this is like in the old days when Matt Jones actually appeared on his own radio show and did food brackets, some ungodly awful place like Cheesecake Factory would get a runaway victory and I would be like what society am I living in?

Agree. Any song where the same line is just repeated 10-15-20 times is not good. Sorry Aerosmith.
