I think Bomar redshirted. Jason White's senior year was his first year. He then played as a redshirt freshman in 2005 and proved to be extremely overrated, before his quick departure before the 2006 season started.

OU had 2 quarterbacks in White and Thompson plus Tommy Grady (4-star) on the roster in 2004, so it made sense to redshirt Bomar at the time.
Arnold is coming in as THE backup to Gabriel, in all fairness to Beville and Booty....so he can't be redshirted.
As for Bomar, I thought he showed great potential as a redshirt freshman in 2005, but not between the ears.

If DG comes back the starting QB position is his to lose. I guess it would depend on how they both or any other QB on the team does in practice. Just because a player has 5 stars by his name coming in does not equate to being a starter. Dillon knows the offense better so Jackson has a lot to catch up on as well. Frankly I just don't see him starting over DG if he returns. Just my opinion but who knows. I would think if DG has even a smidge of knowledge that he won't start next year he will hit the Portal.
