"Other" includes the 1940s Batman and Batman and Robin serials and the DC Extended Universe films (Suicide Squad and the two versions of Justice League).

I don't watch a lot of superhero movies but I don't miss many Batman films.

Like many here, I grew up watching reruns of the '66 Batman movie and television show and subsequently love 'em both.

XD

To me personally, Tim Burton's movies aren't a great take on Batman, mainly because Batman kills villains like he did way back in the earliest days of the Golden Age, but I still love them. I've got lots of great memories of seeing them in theaters multiple times each when I was a kid, and I love the aesthetics (Gotham's look in particular is perfect), Danny Elfman's music, and the performances (especially Jack Nicholson and Danny Devito). Joel Schumacher and Christopher Nolans' movies have their moments but overall they just don't click for me. I had fun seeing the latter, though, because a lot of my friends are really into those movies and cosplayed, which was unexpected and great.

Which is more famously silly -- the bat-shark repellent or the entire "Bane on a plane" scene? ;)

I haven't seen any of the DCEU films and don't plan to (though I'll probably eventually watch Michael Keaton's appearances as Batman in The Flash). I have absolutely no idea at all what to expect from The Batman (I've never seen a Matt Reeves or Peter Craig movie before), but I really like how it looks from the trailers so I'm looking forward to it. :)

Anyway, what are your favorite live-action Batman movies? Or your favorite animated ones (mine's Mask of the Phantasm). 🦇

I know it’s not the best, but I’ll watch Batman v. Superman any time it’s on.

TDK is fantastic and I waited way too long to watch it.

1989 is nostalgically great.

I saw TDK in IMAX when it came out and was flabbergasted at how good it was. I’ve probably seen it 30 times since then. The social commentary is wonderful, it has some funny parts too despite being dark and somewhat hopeless for the first couple of hours.

The opening scene and the scene where Batman extracts Lau from the building in Hong Kong are tremendous set pieces. It’s pretty much perfect from start to finish.

My only “gripe”’is that Maggie Gyllanhaal isn’t remotely attractive but is treated like a 10.

The best set piece of the dark knight is where Batman simultaneously takes out the terrorists and the Swat team while saving the hostages with glowing white eyes as an homage to the way he is drawn in the comics.

Yeah, there are too many to mention. The chase scene where they capture the Joker is also amazing, especially when it wraps with the reveal that Gordon is still alive. Chris Nolan is one of the best filmmakers of our generation and this is his masterpiece.

The interrogation scene with Batman and Joker is probably my favorite scene. Heath Ledger was amazing in the movie but even more so in that scene

I don’t know why but for whatever reason I really like dark knight rises. Have watched it probably 20 times. Thought the Dark Knight was just ok.

Commissioner Gordon: It could be any one of them. But which one? Which ones?

Batman: Pretty *fishy* what happened to me on that ladder.

Commissioner Gordon: You mean where there's a fish there could be a Penguin?

Robin: But wait! It happened at sea. See? C for Catwoman!

Batman: Yet, an exploding shark *was* pulling my leg...

Commissioner Gordon: The Joker!

Chief O'Hara: All adds up to a sinister riddle. Riddle-R. Riddler!

Commissioner Gordon: Oh, the thought strikes me. So dreadful, I scarcely dare give it utterance.

Batman: The four of them. Their forces combined.

Robin: Holy nightmare!

There is no doubt that the Christopher Nolan Batman films were the best of the series (so far...the new one looks really good based on the trailer). That being said, I have a special place in my heart for the Tim Burton Michael Keaton 1989 Batman film. It was good. It was considered "dark" at the time. That should tell you something. To this day, I still remember the quote, "What are you?" (Very Long Pause) "I'm Batman"

I will still say "I'm Batman" in a Michael Keaton voice to this day. Maybe that makes me a boomer. Maybe that means I saw an awesome film when I was 12 years old. LOL

I probably enjoyed The Dark Knight Rises a lot more but think The Dark Knight is legit art and the better movie.

The character of Bane is just so much fun and watching a guerilla war in Gotham is awesome. If Nolan cut about 30 minutes out of the movie, it might have been better than The Dark Knight as a film masterpiece.

I wouldn't have thought it to be the case before the movie but TDK isn't near the movie it is if Ledger doesn't play the Joker. He immersed himself into the role and played it perfectly.

We've got about two months until The Batman lands in theaters, which is perfect for watching at least one Batman movie a week until it lands. :)

I like the old Superman serials for what they are, but I've never seen the Batman serials. I might try to fit those and the three BTAS movies in, too.

To me, Ledger is the only thing that makes that movie. When he's not in it, I don't think it's that amazing.

While I know this movie is flawed, I think The Dark Knight Rises is better. I liked Batman actually facing someone who could best him physically. I thought Hardy, Hathaway, and JGL were all great in TDKR.

My favorite live-action movie from this list is definitely Dark Knight (2008). For this year and the effects available at that time, this movie deserves all its awards. It's indeed a masterpiece. I used to find a good link for watching movies on https://yeahmovies.tv/flixtor. Here I matched a link for viewing Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. By the way, have you watched the deleted scene from that movie starring Jimmy Kimmel? It's brilliant, and I'm so sorry they've deleted it and can't understand why because it's priceless! Lol.

For 10 years( or however the span was) after watching Jack Nickelson's Joker I thought "No one will ever top that performance!" The over the top acting, and cartoonish jokes.

Then Heath Ledger nails it as a more realistic real world Joker. And I thought, "Okay, we got us a 1a, and 1b. No one is gonna top those 2 performances"

And the Joaquin Phoenix strutted onto the stage just absolutely bug nuts insane as the Joker. I stopped rating performances.

Ps. Val Kilmer/ George Clooney... toss up for the worst Batman. Even Adam West smokes those 2.

Flashpoint Batman rocks. Hope he gets to shoot Eobard Thawn.(reverse Flash)

Christopher Nolan prefers practical effects to CGI when possible

Been watching the first season of Pennyworth on HBO Max. It’s been pretty entertaining.
