For me, it's not even a contest. Master of Puppets. It's the quintessential hard rock / metal album, and sounds as good today as it did the first time I heard it over 20 years ago. I've listened to it so much that if you picked an instrument, I could hum its part for all 8 songs start to finish.

It is. But I was only 4 when it released. It took a few years for me to give it a listen.
