What does "not right mentally" mean?

Low confidence. If you play golf you know what Caleb is talking about.

When my golf game is ****, often times the best cure is 2 weeks off.
Good analogy.

I’m a 6 handicap. And I once went through a period of about three months when I couldn’t make a putt longer than 3 feet. After a few weeks of that you can’t get rid of the negative thoughts.

Exactly, and it will extend to other parts of your game. The fact they can’t hit free throws anymore is a tell-tale sign this is a confidence issue.

Other than yesterday I’ve been impressed with some things Palmquist has been doing that others on the team could benefit from.

He has limitations, and he knows it, especially around ballhandling. When he gets that split second open look and they find him he’s shot ready and lets it rip. And it’s been working for him. Everyone else on the team has that quarter to a half second of doubt before shooting that is just a killer.

They are playing their asses off but it's not working. So they're frustrated. I feel bad for them. It happens, but it's come at the worst time for them.

Fans getting all bent out of shape, beating up on the players online, is ridiculous. The players are the ones doing all the work and they're the ones suffering the most in the losses.

Zero confidence and confused about how to go about achieving success.
The man is trying everything and nothing is working.
None of these guys can try any harder.
The more you try the worse it gets

also these kids have been on the road for the last 8-9 games--only 3 games at the RAC(all losses of course) but that really has to wear on you as well

It means no one on the team can create easy shots for himself or teammates. its falls on Paul Mulchay. It's his job to make the game easier for his teammates

My Father, RU Golf Course greenskeeper of 30+ years, always used to say - if you're working on something and it starts fighting you and you get more and more frustrated trying to fix it - just walk away for 5 minutes and come back to it, and it'll probably go together first time you try.

He'd always get a good chuckle out of guys that took the game so seriously and got so frustrated that they would end up wrapping a club around a tree.

Similar story for me, when I was playing a ton of golf and was down to a 7 handicap. I developed a case of the shanks, kind of like in the movie Tin Cup. It lasted a few weeks (not every shot, but more than enough) and drove me nuts. Funny thing is, I've never had a putting problem in golf (always been the best part of my game, even now, when I only play once or twice a year), but I have terrible putting problems, at times, in disc golf, which I play pretty seriously now. Weird.

Hopeful a nice 3 day away will kick them back into gear
Well, they just had the same three-day break just last week....sandwiched by two games (Sunday-PSU, Thur-Minn). Could have been two road wins if not for the Minn collapse (or can play the game where they got lucky to pull out PSU game, but either way the fact is they went 1-1 over those 2 games).

Perhaps being in Chicago for the B1G tourney on a neutral floor and not having any pressure of playing on their home court at JMA could end up being to their advantage on Thursday.

Try golfing with 5 guys banging you during your back swing. Lol

Your putting is a good analogy to our current foul shooting woes though.
