What happened to punctuation?

I read comments, sales ads, Facebook, YouTube...what the hell happened to using proper punctuation?

I know spelling and grammar have been declining in the general American population for some time now (perhaps since many text using shorthand, every kid born since 1995 has ADD or ADHD, etc.), but for ***** sake...how hard is it to lace some words together using a period between thoughts at the very least? Maybe a comma here and there?

Even if used incorrectly it's much easier to read something written by the common village idiot when there's a period or two.

I sift through a lot of ads on Craigslist, Facebook market, GunBroker, just different places looking to see what's for sale. Sometimes just checking out current prices on some items. But I have to stop reading an ad after some ******* just starts typing and doesn't take the time to separate the sentences. I will have to assume some people are maybe even bigger lazy asses and are using the dictation feature on their iPhone without going back and proofreading one bit.

It amazes me how bad the spelling in Facebook pages or Craigslist ads actually are.

Like when i pour over the adds and see sloopy missteaks and miss uses and miss spellings of common words and frazes that a kredible 8th grader sholdn-t make, to.

I'd have liked it better had your original post had no punctuation.

Rulz,

You caused me to do a spit take. I was perusing some YouTube videos getting some ideas for my Ugly Drum Smoker project and I see one with the wording "Char Cole" in the headline, not once but twice. I had just taken a swig of water and had to jerk my head to the left rapidly so I didn't spit up on my keyboard.

You mean "****'s sake."

Your use of the second ellipsis is questionable.

You should have added "and" before the last item in your list in the first sentence of paragraph four.

The second sentence in paragraph four is a fragment.

I think part of it has to do with texting. I read an article that is it was rude to use punctuation in text messages. I'm not grammar scholar, in fact I will freely admit I'm bad, but I try hard to get better and I dont care if it is rude I use commas and periods in texts like an *** hole that I am!

Apparently it's often rude to use a period

That sounds almost like it "offends" some idiot and makes them feel all small and ****, as if the display of proper grammar is a pretentious act...like you are subconsciously putting them down for being a lazy, slack jawed, soft talkin ***** who didn't pay attention in school and/or is just too lazy to tap the button and change up the keyboard for punctuation.

I guess I must offend the **** out of slack jawed idiots.
