Clearly something happened. Especially with how those two statements were made, wonder what they did.

Yeah, it would seem so. I wonder that as well. Just struck me as odd to have them both leave so abruptly. Capel is building something there and I hate to see him losing good talent though too. With him being the heir apparent for a lot of fans it makes one wonder, what has occurred?

Why do most think Capel is the next coach? I’m lost as to why most think he is the front runner.

Seems his name is the one that always comes up on here, (from most), and in articles about the changing of the guard at Duke. I love Jeff. But, I'm not ready for K to leave just yet or to entertain the idea of someone else coming in Duke family or not.

I'd love Few or Stephens or Wright but no big names are going to want to replace a legend. We could still reach out. But it will prob. come from the Duke tree.

I see his name mentioned as much as the rest but he hasn’t accomplished more then the rest as a head coach either.

I don’t think much will come out but I do think the guys left because this is pretty much a free year with no sitting out next season.

Quin Snyder’s success amazes me. Shocks me. He’s a pro coach, and won’t return to Duke I’m sure. He has the Utah Jazz in first place. Our paths crossed many times when he was a Duke player. He dated my next door neighbor. She was not a pleasant person. I felt sorry for him. Quin seemed nice. I didn’t think that he had the moxie to coach millionaires

Reports are that Stephen is on somewhat shaky ground with the Celtics.Owners who specifically say that their coach is fine usually signal that something is wrong.

He will be in high demand and the Celtics mess is on everyone on the staff . They need a pass first point guard and bigs that can score to take relief off Tatum and Brown especially with Smart still out.

Kimba is a good player but I have come to see why Jordan was reluctant to give him his max. Has not been healthy since joint the C’s .

Define 'most' please.

None of those guys are happening. Stevens is the only one who'd entertain it, at minimum. Even he is a long shot. It's easy to fall in love with the big names, because well, we're Duke.....but I'd be more comfortable with the 'Duke way' to start, because it's proven successful. I think we at least owe it to the process. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, we can play the revisionist history game.

Yeah i don’t think “most” is accurate, but he’s on a list of about 3-5 guys (Duke fam) that would get the nod.

You know, I never quite got the Hurley love from our fans, in terms of being the next coach. He’s doing ok at ASU, but nothing that says to me he would crush it here. I’ll support whoever we get, but personally he’s not at the top of my list.

None of the Duke guys have crushed it except Snyder if we're being honest. It still remains to be seen if Capel can turn Pitt around. This past week was certainly a setback. Capel and Scheyer have been good recruiters, but let's face it, they are/were recruiting for Coach K.

“Most” meaning every time a thread is posted about K’s replacement many say it’s Capel!
Not people really in the know but by a large number of posters. Few and Stevens are not happening as said up above , never thought as Hurley as a replacement. Snyder isn’t leaving the league for college.

Why say define “most” please? I simply asked as to why “ many posters” if that’s better thank its Capel?

Wonder if Capel talks to Coach K about what's going on with his players and gets some advice. Perhaps he took a cue from Coach K with Jalen Johnson and it was "mutually" decided to let these guys go and start from scratch next year. Who knows.

Has Brad Stevens ever won anything???
Brad Stevens benefited from having a team of upperclassman at Butler that basically coached themselves and obviously got some preferential treatment on the way to back to back NCAA finals

He took Butler to back to back finals appearances. Butler. And very nearly beat us. Not many coaches that have won titles would be willing to leave their schools.
