What is the next excuse?

I have heard a lot of excuses in my 77 years of being a Wildcat Fan, but I get tired of the same old excuse, "Time to go to work. The coaches need to look at things and see what we can execute. I know we can play better than that."
Well, after your up to your A$$, in alligators, it's to late to drain the swamp. The work should have started a long time ago, and the coaches should have already looked at things which they thought this group of players could execute. It sounds like there was no game plan. After watching the first game, evidently changes needed to be made, but were not. I think it was obvious to most fans, that all teams were going to run. We never stop the end run, and the linebackers never block the holes until after a 5 to 7 yard gain. It's obvious the 3-4 is not working.
This is Coach Stoops 4th year, these are his recruits, so enough of the excuses. Will he be fired after this year? I think there is a good possibility. Yes, I know he will be owed 12 million, but if Barnhart keeps him, a lot more damage then 12 million will be lost. A lot of season ticket holders will cancel their tickets and NEVER come back. They will enjoy watching UK on TV and keeping their hard-earned money.
If Stoops had any class, and doesn't turn the program around, with at least 6 wins, he would negotiate a buyout at the end of the year for a lesser amount. I won't hold my breath for that. I'm from the "old school", that if I can't get the job done, I don't want your money, but I know that won't be the case in this situation.
Great deal for Stoops, bad deal for Barnhart, and the fans and UK.

Your analysis is right on the money, pardon the pun. Stoops has set the program back again. His dismal five years will end up being no better than the Joker years and, on top of that, the next coach will come into a rebuild situation which will require another three years of repair and who is to say it can even be done in three years. It is time to cut the loses now and make a run in a different direction. Maybe next time UK can hire a coach who actually has PROVEN head coaching experience. I am tired of watching coaches try to learn on the job. UK is a major player in the major football conference. Why can they hire a coach who can actually coach?

I agree with everything you said, especially about Stoops being a stand up guy that 'should' negotiate a fair buyout instead of raping the loyal fans and the university. I also agree that Stoops won't go that route. Now get in line for the next stage of Stoops football. The ship is sinking fast so he'll start defending himself i.e. Joker's "call me when we're 2-10". That's when desperation meets reality and Stoops goes into damage control in order to take his millions of dollars with him as he heads out the door. Stoops wins and UK football gets stomped into the ground.... again.

I always appreciate your "old school" analysis of the situation. Can't disagree with anything you said.

I just saw ESPN mocking our fans saying we didn't care because it wasn't basketball season yet. NO, OUR STUPID *** ADMINISTRATION DOESN'T CARE. WE CARE. MITCH BARNHART, HE DOESN'T CARE. FIRE HIS ***. I'm so sick of the national media portraying us as not caring when its the exact opposite.
