With the improved facilities, moving forward, what should be the reasonable expectations for Kentucky football?

Compete for an sec championship every ten or fifteen years or so. Do that a couple times, then continually improve standards.

I expect to not watch a Conference USA team easily run the ball down our throats for 30 minutes. That and consistent bowl games would be nice.

Assuming we have a quality HC and a FB focused AD:

-Recruit, redshirt, retain, and develop players creating a roster with a healthy number of quality 5th year seniors, 4th year seniors and juniors.
-Seasoned and savvy game preparation and in-game coaching on the sidelines to counter the talent disparity within the SEC.
-Win 7+ games per year.
-Finish +.500 in conference 2 out of every 3 years.
-Appear prepared, conditioned and competitive in games we lose.
-Given the state of the SEC east (down).....win SEC east every 4 or 5 years.
-Win a SEC championship every 10-12 years.

4-4 in the SEC should be the norm.

Once every 4 years or so, we should have a team capable of going 6-2 and potentially making the SEC Championship game.

Basically, .500 in conference has been our ceiling for the last 3 decades plus, when it should be our expectation. I'll never believe that's too much to ask.

Really? SEC Champions...you shouldn't belong in a league unless your goal is to compete for the championship. Unfortunately for far too long that has been the fans goal, but certainly not that of the admin.

Nope....these standards are below the minimum standards for most SEC teams. If you can't set a goal.....you surely won't achieve a goal. The standards I mentioned are the "absolute minimum" that should be acceptable for a school that is serious about FB. No more half measures and wishing for off-years for our conference opponents to back our way into success. GBB!

We have finished better than .500 in the SEC zero times (0%) since 1978. By comparison we have finished winless in the SEC seven times (18%) during that span.

Wake up.

Well... We're not "most SEC teams." You think we don't AT LEAST set a goal of getting to a bowl and having a winning SEC record most years? Yet we have hit the goal of having a winning record 0 times since 1978.

You think we should do something we've never done in the SECCG era (get to Atlanta) every 4 or 5 years?

You think we should do something we've never done in the SECCG era (win an SECC) every 10-12 years?

No. We're after disgraced coaches to come coach at UK. Try to stay on script! I know we can ruffle some more feathers!

Crazy, with that attitude, your right! I've had people tell me I couldn't do something, and I usually proved them wrong. No one can dictate what you can do, unless you let them, and I sure in Hell never let anyone keep me from my dreams. If you can dream it, you can do it! I tell my Grandkids, who all go to UK on Academic Scholarships, to NEVER let anyone tell them they can't do in life, what they want to.

To be better four out five years than the team down the road eighty miles. If they can consistently be in the top twenty five so can we. They have shown a Kentucky team can be relevant nationally and they have less going for them than we do.

To accept less than that is simply a losers mindset.

Cool! That's great! Now, let's talk about the rapes.
How many rape cover-ups would you like to see at Kentucky?

Its not unreasonable at all to think that UK could be what Ole Miss has become, which is a team that could win 7, 8, 9 games on a consistent basis, with the potential every couple of years to breakthrough with a 10 win season. I just hate the mentality here of "let's just win 6 games and get to a bowl game." Screw that! I want an administration, a coach, and a team that wants to win every game and compete for SEC championships!

At this point I would be happy to see a UK FB team have the players that can compete for a solid 60 minutes and beat a quality team. I have not seen that in quite a while.

I agree, but it's not just Ole Miss.

Bad as Missouri may be this year, if this team can win two consecutive SEC East titles, why can't UK? Missouri has had more success historically, but not that much more, and most of it was decades ago- until Pinkel.

Mississippi State. Enter Mullen, and now this is a legit program. He had no head coaching experience, much like many other successful coaches at their first stop. Hiring a first time coach is no excuse for failing at UK.

Louisville.

Vanderbilt under Franklin.

South Carolina, historically, was little better than UK, if at all better, before Holtz and Spurrier.

Boise St. Kansas St. Oregon. It goes on and on.

I'm wide awake. We have made one mistake after another.

It takes quite a loser mentality to think that building a program with an expectation of playing .500 ball in conference is a pipe dream.

Maybe the fact that fans like you use our pathetic history to justify continued pathetic play is the reason it is allowed to continue.

Have you seen what UL has done 70 miles away? we essentially fish from the same waters they do, and have greater resources, so what's the problem?

Maybe you need to wake up.
