What was the OU legacy of JMontgomery?

Can someone outline the impact Montgomery had on our defense?
Everyone has acted like we lost a testicle, but I'm scratching my head on exactly what his impact was that was profoundly different than anything we had before.

Gallimore and Overton were nice pickups this year at DT, but what else?

Was the development of Jordan Phillips (a 4-star recruit) solely on coaching?
Who else? Chuka? Tapper (another 4-star)?

Were his contributions so profound that we've been sent back to the stone age?

I get what you're getting at here and it's also why I'm not crapping the metaphorical bed, but Montgomery clearly was a rising star and would have been a beneficial, if not the most pivotal coaching piece, for the improvement of our defense going forward.

His recruiting speaks for itself.

Having said that, he is not irreplaceable, but it is imperative that we do find a replacement that is his equal.

I believe it can be summed up with a couple of words like Attitude & Confidence. He had a calming demeanor that the players rallied around. That's gone now. Mike Stoops will not be able to replace it. His personality doesn't permit it.

I agree. Hire another who is as good or better.

He got a brand new set of teeth, while in Norman.

The dude looks night and day with those new chompers.

It's not what he did at OU over the last two years as much as what he could have done after two years of building relationships for recruiting. It takes a couple of years to get you seeds planted.

Legacy? What did he institutionalize and embed in the organization so that it lives on after his departure?

Nothing, nada, zip, zilch, zero.
