What was the play of the year?

I know there are still games to play, but for me Sterling's TD catch against the Vols was the best of the season:

Either the TD catch and throw to Dmitri Flowers vs. Baylor, or that play earlier one where Baker scrambled, bought time, backed up and then threw a TD pass - I can't remember who caught it or whom it was against - West Virginia maybe?

I was going to say Parker's was a no-brainer, but I forgot about that Shep TD.

Me, too! We wouldn't be where we are, today, heading into the Playoff Games, without either of those plays. There were others, but those were both Game Changers...Deal Breakers...FANDURNTASTIC!

At the time of the Vols Game, I don't think we realized the long range implications of Shep's TD. It was great that we'd played Tennessee and Won the Game!

When Parker made 'The Save', it was Do, or Die. Stephen DID it, and that play had given us a chance to Win the Season! The Entire Sooner Nation Exhaled...

Defense was SS' choice, Parker saving TCU for us.

Offense, Stucks choice, Mayfield to Flowers. (ala Manziel)

I really believe that broke Baylors will to live. Symbolically speaking.

This will sound corny, but IMO the most important play of the year happened around 6:25 pm CT on September 5th when Baker Mayfield took his first snap as the Oklahoma Sooners quarterback.

Yep, the day John Frickin Wayne rode into town, got off his horse, and started whuppin' bad guys!!

Heh... Anyone read the Mayfield Wikipedia? Let yankee and barking start teasing Baker now too....

Baker Mayfield also expressed many other interests while in high school. One of which was his involvement in video games, especially in the fast-action, competitive, multiplayer game, Halo 3. Along with his commitment to football, Mayfield played Halo 3 with such diligence that he become a big competitor in the Halo community and formed a competitive team that played online matches together. Mayfield has been playing the game since Halo: Combat Evolved on the original Xbox, playing alongside his older brother Matt Mayfield. This growth and persistence in Halo almost led Mayfield astray with his football career. In between his freshman and sophomore years Mayfield nearly made the decision to give up football all together and peruse a professional career in competitive video games. While his decision ultimately was to stay with football, Mayfield still to this day plays halo at a very high competitive level. Mayfield has brought many other members of the University of Oklahoma football team into the 26th century world of halo. This includes football teammates Grant Bothun, Ty Darlington, Matt Dimon, Connor Knight, and former OU starting quarterback Trevor Knight. Mayfield has expressed high level of competition for the game by claiming that he could beat any student on The University of Oklahoma campus in a one-versus-one game of Halo 3. With there being over 25,000 students on the OU campus, this is an ambitious claim that many of his teammates believe he would be able to uphold.

Mayfield has claimed that Halo has had a positive effect on his on field performance for football. One of the main factors is that both football and halo require multitasking and quick thinking. Both positions require that the player be able to react quickly to their environment and what is going on around him. Another aspect that has benefited him is the use of the radar that is found on the lower left corner of the screen in Halo. He states that the radar has allowed for him to better find his receivers on the field. Both Halo and football require that he be able to see things out of the corner of his eye.[17]

There have been many great plays this year. Is there one any better
than the other ? As John Wayne told Stumpy in Rio Bravo,
" I'd hate to have to live on the difference" This is an amazing team this year.

JCon, I will reply on your video game savy and just sip on a Back Street Banger as I celebrate this year's success. Great to be a Sooner, right? Boomer!

Baker reminds me so much of Tommy McDonald, my very first OU hero. Am I very far off base, Senior Sooner?
Good Comparison, Okla...Both have that 'Will to Win' and the tools to make it happen. Pound for Pound, Tommy played much BIGGER than he might have, and could take the hits. I see that same quality in Baker. Their Competitiveness is the difference in them and Ordinary Players...Winners, both...

Baker appears to be a Team Favorite, both on the field, and off...Tommy? Not so much...

Are you saying Tommy was disliked by the team? How about Joe Don Looney? Maybe I'm misreading............

I would gladly and appropriately be the student. I know you have much to share about the OU years that mean so much to me and many other message board members. Sometimes social media fails. Hope we (all Sooner fans) are fortunate enough to celebrate another National Championship soon. Boomer!

I would have to say it's a tie between Parker's two point swat down and Shep's game winning TD in Knoxville. But Perine & Mixon both have made some huge runs (60+)....that seemingly showed that the Sooners are back to running like the good ole days....

Jcon if you play like Mayfield you are allowed to do whatever you want...plus I also read in an interview that Mayfields favorite TV show is Seinfeld. What's next, is he gonna say his favorite movie is lonesome dove? The guy can do no wrong
