So lots of Beran at 5? I'm OK with dat.

That pic makes Degenhart look like he's 38 years old.

Do you want the game to be closer than it should be?
Boise State cannot guard Nicholson. Lob. Dunk. Repeat.
My guess is that the Boise State players will not want to pick up the fouls that will surely come if we get the ball in the right hands near the basket.

Thinking more about defense and how to guard the perimeter with all of these shooters and smaller, mobile guys.

How about lots of Beran sitting his tushy on the bench? That's my proposal!

No way you should give up the advantages MN brings:

1) Lob threat - which mostly manifests itself not in a lot of dunks, but in difficulty helping on the pick and roll. Guards more easily penetrate
2) Offensive rebounds
3) Paint protection
4) Sweet facial hair on the court

Beran is, at best, marginally better defending the pick and roll and closing out on 3 point shooters. And being a threat on offense to shoot 3's is very debatable with his Copperfield act.

And don't give me that MN on the bench could mean some sweet pistol action as those have been absent all season.

No one loves Teen Wolf more than me. If I were a female wolf, I would want to bear his litter.

But after perusing PWB's +/- breakdown of PSU, I am thinking we need to deploy Beran. So maybe Nicholson AND Beran?

All I know is BSU is 0-8 in the tournament. Being a NU fan that historically that does not bode well for us. At least in football.

That's the default anyway! The go small is getting weird because things are not going well.

From what I have seen from what video is available, BSU is a good, veteran, well coached team. My guess is that when Nicholson is in the game, Degenhart will not hedge on Buie, will keep Nicholson from scoring on lobs, ,and they will take their chances on Boo getting some points on drives in favor of limiting open 3’s and dunks. Shaver is a solid defender, and they will count on his not letting Boo go too wild. They are a disciplined team and won’t make many mistakes. To me the key player on offense is Barnhizer. Since BSU does not have an eraser inside, Barnhizer should be able to get a lot of high percentage inside looks, and since he has been very good scoring over defenders of his height, he could have a big night.

They rarely run their offense through a low post, so I would guess Collins will see if Nicholson adds much in intimidating drives to the basket, and if not, pull him for Beran with the other 3 B’s and Audige.

It should be a close, somewhat unartistic, but to a purist, interesting game.

I'm just running with the same old material... Take my wife, please.

I've seen Boise play an entire game when I cared about the outcome. They aren't good enough to beat us if we play reasonably well. Too small in the frontcourt. Decent defenders and all that, but we should physically overwhelm them.

Being an abused fan, this was my thought exactly. But the team has been doing lots of un-NU things this season, so hopefully making BSU 0-9 is one of them!
