Here is a good summation of what is happening in realignment for the Core 8 BIG 12 members:

“Texas and OU want the house on fire, they want us all to panic, run out of the house and try to find new homes because, guess what?” a Big 12 administrator told 247Sports. “They want to create that chaos that benefits them. If the conference goes away, then they don’t owe the withdrawal penalty.”

And its pretty obvious there are many in the media also trying to assist OU/UT in this recreation of major college sports.

While each school is going to eventually look out for their best interests, staying calm as i.e. president Gee has told Mountaineer nation, is the smartest thing that can be done at this time.

If a team gets a good offer they should bolt the burning building and carnage left behind.

The Pac-12's current TV deals with Fox and ESPN expire in 2024.

The Big Ten's current deals with Fox and ESPN are up in 2023.

The ACC has the opposite issue, locked into its exclusive deal with ESPN until 2036.

The ACC is scared because Big 10 is about to raid the PAC and leave ACC in the dust and the PAC dangling on a vine like the Big 12/8. Making Big 10 and SEC the only to viable conferences in college football.

It's coming. Just wait and see.
