I certainly don't wish any ill will towards the man. He's done a lot for UofL football, but it was time for him to go. Kind of like when it was time for Denny to go.

I don't think Bobby stops here. However, his past actions limit his options. I don't think the NFL would touch him after what he did to the Falcons. Don't think he'll get a gig in the SEC either. I'm speaking in head coaching capacities here. As an OC he may have a chance. Wouldn't shock me if he wound up at Bama as an OC. Saban has the clout to hire assistants with baggage (Lane Kiffin) that worked out.

If he's going to remain in college as a HC I think his best chance would be at Maryland as far as P-5 schools go.

I truly hope he lands on his feet and does well. I was at the FSU game 2 years ago and it was an amazing moment to be a part of.

I don't wish ill will to anybody but damn he did a lousy job this year, the worst I've ever seen and yes I remember Krag and Ron Cooper - but for a one year review this was a turd sandwich and he should be ashamed... and his exit strategy at each checkpoint has just been pathetic. When things go well he's just fine - so yeah an assistant at Alabama is in his wheelhouse. I could see that, or something similar.

I think his note to the Atlanta Falcons stops a return to the NFL.

I could see him in a head coaching job at a smaller FBS program out west, like a UNLV or Colorado St but like you said, the NFL is probably dead for him as an OC.

I think he might be happier just being a college OC at a more obscure program right now. I don’t think his phone will be ringing off the hook regardless.

I wish him and his family the best as I did when left of his own choosing in 2007.

These guys are all hired guns trying to win games while they enrich themselves...nothing more or less. And you get messed over forgetting that...

I think Bobby is done at the Power 5 level. Could see him at any of these schools if an opening occurred: FAU, FIU or USF. He also could be done.

Or he may just lay back on his couch in Louisville and eat grapes.

Hey Bob, can I borrow a couple of grand?

His first trip will be to the bank. After that who knows. Alabama has a history of hiring former head coaches as offensive analysts.

This! Some of Louisville's best moments were with BP as coach. Apparently time to move on, but I don't get the gloating and giddiness over it. Bobby is part of the story that landed Louisville in the ACC instead of playing Meeemphis for 'Murican Cawfurnce Tahtuhls. Coaches rarely get to choose when they walk away. People should thank him and move on.

Well played. I wish Bobby and his family well. But it was time for him to go at Louisville. His days of making millions are over, if he does not retire.
Actually, he’s got a few years of making millions in front of him without coaching at all.

It's purely for networking to stay in the game and/or love of the game. You really can't sit out more than a year and have any market value. Butch Jones is doing exactly what you are describing, making $36k/year salary as an analyst at Alabama (while UT pays hims $200k/month buyout).

Take some time off. Reflect, relax, spend some cash, time with family, grandkids, do some tv... take another run at it somewhere else in a year or two.

I can see him taking a year off. But, I wonder if WKU would take him back. Sanford is likely to get fired. Bobby and his family enjoy living here.

Burned any bridge back to NFL, doubt seriously that any P5 will hire him unless it is a bottom dweller and I would bet it is somewhere out west. That is where he was from and it would be away from this area of country where he'd be under scrutiny.

Does Alabama have a OC that is doing pretty good right now?
Yes we do Locksley who was promoted from within, I don't think people realize how bad the relationship between Saban and Kiffin was before he left and while I don't dislike Petrino at all hes a great offensive mind but there is some baggage there I'm not sure Saban would be willing to overlook, we arent having trouble filling spots on the coaching staff just keeping them from getting promoted and leaving for other teams. I see Petrino taking time away maybe even being an analyst but his phone's gonna ring don't kid yourself there someone whos gonna give him a chance its just the way it is to many programs trying to win and not enough coaches who have the resume he has, this season aside good luck in your search hope its a home run hire!!
