Star Wars
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi

These are the only three movies I need. Star Wars and I were almost born at the exact same time and we grew up together closely.

As for four: The Fellowship of the Ring. I was raised on Tolkien too, and the LotR movie premiere at Hamburg was a big part of one of the funnest days of my life.

Action movies not really my thing, and intend to be more of a drama, art house, and horror type fan so...
  • the Before series (Before Sunrise, Sunset, Midnight)
  • Portrait of a Lady on Fire
  • Hereditary
  • Requiem for a Dream
Honorable Mention: Good Will Hunting, Her, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Seven, Fight Club, The Fountain, Lady Bird, Joker

Not being critical but I have never heard of any of your top four. Must be a generational thing.

Gallipoli (The Aussies know how to make a movie)
True Romance (by far QT's best writing - Walken/Hopper best scene in movie history)
Apocalypse Now (the first half is perfection on a level no other move has ever risen to)
I Walk the Line (1970 Gregory Peck - endlessly watchable to me like Shawshank is)

Note: The best overall thing ever put to film is Season 1 of True Detective.
