The Chargers even offered him a better deal and he still declined it.

Who is to blame? Bosa or SD?

At this point, it's Bosa and his family. His dad was a hold out as a draftee too. The family tree is a cactus because they are all pricks.

The Chargers should try to trade him because their relationship will never be good, but every other team realizes that they can low ball in a trade offer.

Hard to fault SD.
except they have a long history under this ownership group of being tightwads & players have experienced numerous holdouts

SD's action is beyond stupid, going forward anytime they are in the top 10 drafting all top 20 type draftees will refuse to even work out for the Chargers in fear of being treated the say as Bosa. they have poisoned the well on future talent for years to come rather than give this guy his money a few months sooner than they want to pay it out. real smart negotiating.

Bosa is a an idiot! He is the loser in this no matter what happens. IN the NFL all draft picks are slotted the teams work around the slot. Why would they pay him full money when he has already missed 3 weeks of camp and has zero chance to be ready for game 1? He could threaten to hold out for the season but SD still hold his rights. It costs them nothing to hold them.

SO if he holds out for the season he loses this years salary he is a year older with a shorter career and that money will never be recovered.

Usually much of the debate this late is over the offset language which hardly ever comes into play with a pick his high. I think Bosa's being greedy and dumb.

I agree they only offered him more money than any one else in the draft except one guy.SD not in the wrong here.

The only bad thing is they can't trade him unless he is signed.Kind of a catch 22.

He's being unrealistic. He's unproven in the NFL. You've got to prove you can compete with the best of the best before you ask for a lot of $

I honestly hope, because he's acting like a greedy scumbag, that he's the biggest bust ever.

Edit: Also how does he expect to get respect from his veteran teammates now? He's acting like he's the best thing that has ever walked through SD.

Screw Joey Bosa and every athlete who thinks they are ENTITLED. If he signs and I don't really give a crap about him or the Chargers or care if he ever does, but if he is ever on an NFL field, I hope someone lays his punk *** out and stands over the top of him as he is laying on the ground and tells him "welcome to the NFL KID, this is a man's league, so go to the sideline and call your momma." In a way I hope he does not sign, sits out a year, goes into the draft and then no team drafts him..

Laremy tunsil situation may have moved hi. Up a slot but regardless, san diego is getting what they deserve.

I'm sure the vets at SD are very aware of how much of a tightwad organization they play for & are fully on the side of a fellow player fighting their hardest to get the most money from the wealthy owners

I don't think they're a tight wad organization. After the season they had last year and give Phillip Rivers 83.25 million dollars with 65 million guaranteed. That's not tight wad

Who gives a ****! Pro athletes are so overpaid that the average family can't attend NFL and NBA games. Put this crap on their boards.

San Diego is being accused of being tight because they wanted both offset language and a hold on the signing bonus.

Bosa's agent wanted one or the other, which is typical for this slot.

Here is the deal:

Offset language does not guarantee the full salary in the event the guy is a bust, is cut and plays for another team he wont double dip salaries. Every Charger player, including Rivers has this, so the Chargers are saying a Rookie is no different.

The delay on the signing bonus is comical.

Agents want 85% up front and the remainder by the end of December.

Chargers agree wit the 85 but want to pay the last 15 in March, 3 whole months later.

The signing bonus is the highest of any rookie the last 2 years and his 2016 money will be 2nd only to the number one pick.

WTH????

He went and played for possibly the biggest D-bag fanbase and coach in America so this is not really surprising

Overpaid in relation to what? A school teacher? Sure. But how much money do you think these organizations make off these guys?
