If we are moving on from Frank Haith or not?

I think he will be back for the "lame duck" year. We'll need to improve significantly next year or that's what it will be. Don't see where that would come from.

I've been wrong before. I didn't think TU would fire Wojcik with three years left on his contract. But we had a different AD and President back then.

I fear it’s going to be reminiscent of the days after football season ended. No major changes, nothing to show that the direction of the program will be markedly different, just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Well, we'll have 3 guys who can really score(two of whom will be true freshmen) & including J. Horne. Maybe Scott can improve on his shooting consistency and then there's Korita-maybe he'll improve on his 3 consistency...or not. We'll have Igbanu who might even figure out how to dunk to go along with his post moves.....and Falokun who turned out to be a project as well as Hewitt(who's a bigger project). One of them might turn out to help. Joiner will help the young ones come along with one or both of them in the running for AACK! frosh of the year. Then there's toughness, both mental & physical, that has to improve.....something that Haith apparently has trouble teaching.

I just don't know. Because of more guys who can shoot it, I believe next year will be better. Just my opinion.

Who's the 2nd true freshman?

Quincy, I'm afraid I'm a lot like you in describing next year's possibilities...I use a lot of 'mights' and 'maybes' and 'possiblies'
and 'perhaps', and 'ifs' in looking at next year's prospects....Who
ever our coach is going to be, next year might be a tough one.....

I watched the first half of the Houston-Memphis game, and while I
already knew the difference in talent in those two teams and ours,
I was still shocked at the talent, and the depth of that talent on
those two teams.....They are quick, alert, and motivated, and
Houston in particular, plays frantic defense like they enjoy it..They
are fun to watch...Wow!!

I keep being concerned that Gragg and the Pres. might be willing
to shoot for some level of "acceptable mediocrity" instead of making
the moves that would give us a chance to actually become relevant
in the AAC again.....

The next few days may tell us a lot about the direction that the
program is headed for....Let's hope for the best!

I thought Phipps was a senior this year. If not, he'll be a scoring machine when he does get here. And there's too much buzz on the left coast around Hill for him not to be successful. Of course, no one really knows about true freshman unless your first name is Zion.

Hard to believe that we used to be considered on par with Gonzaga.
True, but Gonzaga has evolved beyond the comparison. They're now part of the elite of college basketball conversation when their name comes up. Truly an amazing job by Mark Few and all of the decision makers that have built that program.

I was lamenting that fact. To quote another TU bust, “Two programs headed in opposite directions.”

This is still the single most telling chart of the past 5 years.....Thanks ctt.... I remember vividly after the 2015 season when it was said by the coaching staff..."just wait till we get all our own recruits" .......We are there.

even if Hill turns out to be all that, we still need two others to compete in this vastly improved conference. Another wing and a PF/center.

who was it that had a tag signature line of "Haith will have four stars committed by year 3" or something like that?

Football can make this argument, incorrectly I think, but it is arguable. Basketball cannot make this argument.

There are a couple of things happening behind the scenes regarding basketball that are definitely causing some issues for Haith and staff. All of our issues can’t be blamed on that, but it’s true, nonetheless.

It's been stated before, but if you get good HS players on campus for visits that easily qualify and you lose out on every one of them I have a hard time buying into "the admin is keeping me from getting good players"

You’re right. But there’s a little more to it than that. Thank our friendly provost for that.

Why don’t you ask which players the school will or won’t let in in certain situations.- directed at uredskin

I'm more than happy to concede that our administration has not been flexible enough to make an exception here or there that would be helpful to a coach. I just don't see any evidence that our current coach would land recruits he can't get even when we don't need to make exceptions

That’s certainly up for debate, but I think the chips would have fallen a little differently over the past couple of years if some things were different.

Frank’s reputation was as a good coach but ordinary recruiter. At both Misery and here, his best season was his first and his second season was his next best. Maybe he finally figured the recruiting stuff out after 23 years but just in time to be thwarted by the school. That’d be rotten luck.

Please mister AD, pull the triger and restore our athletic program.

I used to travel alot to support our football and basketball, but under your watch, the desire is not there.

FIX IT!!!!!!

That's right....When your primary recruiting targets are reduced to the
Juco/transfer grab bag, GPA and admissibility become a much bigger part of the equation, as does the ability to transfer credit hours...

URedskin54, the last sentence of your post says a whole lot about
what has been going on...

If Rod did come on board as a full blown assistant, and turned out
to be the recruiting magician that most think he would be, that might
be a way to change our recruiting targets to promising HS freshmen...
Otherwise, I think the only way to change our present culture is to change head coaches....

If coaching change(s) are in the works, it/they may be delayed by any
involvement that any of the prospective newcomers would have with
any of the post season tournaments.......

Disagree. The getting rid of a coach has nothing to do with hiring a new coach.
I doubt he is going anywhere a

The one thing Frank undeniably is good at is getting jobs. Hopefully he’s working his magic as we speak...

Any chance Haith picks up the Vandy job?

Is there somewhere we can nominate him? Maybe sweeten it and let him go with no buy out since he gave up his retention?
