Per this excellent site for top 25 data, 1984. Cats finished 6-5-1 and unranked in 1983 per this site.

Unfortunately, we have been pretty rank for about 60 years.
I would have thought so too, beat NC team in LSU, and finished with 8 wins and a bowl victory over FSU.
Lack of depth killed us (same as with Bradshaw's Thin Thirty) after we upset LSU, lost to Florida by 8 the next week (45-37 IIRC, not the O's fault, and Little was out) and finished badly, only 3-5 in the SEC. Also FSU wasn't full strength, think it was eligibility problems.
