and a steady decline after four years, should you be entitled to $16M buyout? Next coaches contract should have a steady decline clause to exclude the buyout for lack of performance.

The extension was a brainless act. No reason to extend someone with two straight five win seasons because he was gifted a bowl vs a G5 to finish with 6 wins total in one of those after a manufactured no game vs Oklahoma. he had years remaining on his contract at a lower buyout amount.

No one was trying to take Neal Brown and if they had so what? It wouldn’t have been difficult to land a coach to deliver losing season after losing season and an overall decline in everything football related.

That extension is why Shane Lyons will not get another shot at any other location to be in charge of making key decisions.

I was a premium member back then and I remember lots of posters worrying a blue blood was going to steal him from us, lol.

I remember that too. The only way he’s a head coach next year is if we are dumb enough to keep him.

Well get ready. We have possibly another year of coach Brown, but with several assistant coaching changes.
The administration is happy with the culture change of the program and the quality of players that are coming in. That is one of the biggest reasons they went with Brown, a need to get away from a coach who didn’t care what went on in the locker room or outside it either. Just bring in anyone who can fill a hole so he could win and hit the road.
Lyons was let go because he wouldn’t add to the assistant coaches salary budget to keep or bring in better assistant coaches. Whatever happened with VK aside, we should of gone out and hired another good DC, instead of settling with elevating an assistant, then bringing in a rookie coach.

Just be ready.

It's a signed contract. Was OU and Texas allowed to leave the conference before GOR was completed?

No coach will ever sign a contract for a steady decline clause.

What they should do is not guarantee full salary for remainder of the contract.

Personally I think he's gone January 1st, 2023. Especially if the new AD is already hired. If no new AD before that then you probably see him staying around.

Lol-I saw some of that on this area too--I mean, WHO was going to take a coach with two straight 5 win seasons and players running for the doors from the minute he came onboard? Manufactured fear to stave off their hurt egos because they didn't want to accept that Brown wasn't cut out for the job and unlike what they said for years prior, no, anyone could not just step in and immediately do better (and you know who you are that said that.)

If Brown is retained after another bad season--that says the administration does not care about the fanbase. The fan/donor base is likely to retaliate via lower merchandise sales, lower attendance and viewing and lower season ticket sales. Enough is enough. Its obvious things aren't going to get any better after four seasons. Obviously his recruiting isn't all some pretend because his fully recruited teams can't beat anyone. WVU is recruiting at the exact same level as it has been-no better at all, that is a myth. Difference from the last coaching staff isn't player "integrity", its that Brown can't keep ANY of the quality players at Morgantown, even from before NIL began. There's more to that than just other schools offering different amounts of money.

If he is retained for another season that says no AD has been hire yet. His recruiting ranked 15th for 2023. Just because you recruit high doesn't mean your coaches can win. If you can't coach P5 level you won't win. See Texas and OU.

Your lover, the previous coach bought out his own contract so he could leave. The myth is between your years.

Tell me how many schools keep all their quality players?

Kneel should not have been extended.

Brown’s agent should be a f$&king first ballot HOFer if they have such a thing. He leveraged probably one 3 minute phone call from some **** hole like the freaking Gamecocks into a jackpot for his client.

He deserves a 50% cut for hustling Shame Lyings like the all-day sucker that he is.
