Whens the last time UK won on a last second field goal?

I was younger and can't remember it as well, but I thought the 98 LSU kick was for a tie and not the win.

Looked at a media guide last night. We kicked walk-off, last second field goals in TIED games against Cinncinatti at home in 1995 (Doug Pelphrey, crowned Homecoming King, at half-time, kicked a 51 or 52 yarder with 1 second left in the game) and as others have noted, a much shorter kick at LSU in 1998 in Baton Rouge. I was at the UC game in 1995. QB Ryan Hockman (from Ohio) in like 25 seconds of game time, threw two or three perfect 20ish yard passes to a reciever headed out-of-bounds, the last pass setting up the 50 plus yard kick for Pelphrey.

We have ended two overtime games, one an offensive play (Couch pass to Yeast) for the victory against 'Bama in 1997, and on a defensive play (the tackle short of a needed first down) against LSU in 2007.

Heck, going back a long way, one of our top pass defenders of all time, Darryl Bishop picked off a Vandy pass in Nashville, maybe in 1971/72 and returned the pick six for the victory on the game's last play.

I honestly cannot think of a game even being discussed among old timers (I've personally known lettermen dating back to the late 20's) where we were TRAILING and kicked a last second field goal for the victory.

Then, again, perhaps Kentucky's 12-10 victory over Tennessee, in Charlie Bradshaw's first season . . . . the Thin-Thirty year . . . . 1964, IIRC. I know a field goal provided the margin very late in the game, but I'm not sure it was the last play. Maybe an older timer older than me can remember.

Not to mention that the kick was from 51 yds out.

That's no gimmie folks...that's a loooongin...

Clarkie Mayfield in 1962 vs Tennessee with 20 seconds to go for the biggest win for the Thin 30.
Mayfield did something bigger than the kick when in 1977, he became a hero in the Beverley Hills Supper Club fire when he saved many lives in getting people out of the fire only to lose his own life.

One other note about the Tennessee gamre, it was the first time in my memory that UK used a direct snap to a running back numerous times during that game, The player, the late, Darrell Cox, from Miami Edison High School and one of my first heroes of mind in UK Lore.

I was listening to the Vandy game in 71. There was no reason for VAndy to pass in that situation. They could have run out the clock. The KY announcer was dumb founded that they threw a pass.

I was about to ask why in the world was Vandy throwing in that situation. I know it was before the OT era. If they were up that was ludicrous.

The game was tied 7-7 and Vandy was trying to win the game when Bishop intercepted the ball and ran 41 yards for a 14-7 UK win.

I had forgotten the game was tied. Makes more sense for Vandyour to be passing but the announcers were still surprised.

Not trying to be a jerk, but I thought everyone remembered Doug Pelfrey beating Georgia at the buzzer in 1990. (And yes, it was also come from behind).

Remember that LSU game well. We had the ball in our own territory and it looked like we were content to run the clock out to play for OT. Then Mumme called a reverse to McCord who got us deep into LSU territory. Couch got an extra 10 or 12 yards on a pass to the tight end which set up Hanson's FG winner.

LSU was ranked #21...they ended up 3-8!

Somewhat ironically, one week after the LSU game, we hosted Georgia, and lost by 2 points, after failing to successfully execute a FGA attempt on the last play of the game.

Seth Hanson was lining up to attempt a game winner (right after Dennis Johnson recovered an inexplicable fumble in Georgia territory), but the snap was mishandled and he never got the kick off. (By the way, pretty sure the attempt would have been 50+ yards, and I don't think Hanson had the leg).

That game was a total debacle. UK raced to a 10-point lead and was on the 1 yard line to go up 17-0 when Couch was thrown for a loss on a horrible bootleg playcall. UK then took it 90+ yards for a TD so 17-0 instead became 10-7. The game was pretty tight throughout, but it was another in a long line of near misses for UK football.
