Where are they now?

We still have some former players/commits who are playing in the NCAA tourney this year:

Jared Coleman-Jones - I was surprised to hear the announcer mention his name, as I figured he would've surely been done with college basketball by now. Yet, he has spent his 6th season with SDSU, finally making the tourney, though it appears his time there will be brief as UNC is currently demolishing them.

Casey Simmons - He's become a starter and key player for Yale as they make their 2nd tourney appearance in a row. He's been a solid defensive rebounder and shot blocker while shooting 37% from 3. Last year he only got 12 minutes across their two tourney games, will be interesting to see how he handles the bruising attack of the Aggies.

Joe Bamisile - The one-time commit, who eventually churned through 4 schools before settling at VCU, is one of their top players this season. The high-volume shooter will undoubtedly have his name called many times as they try to upset BYU.

Julian Roper (ND), Parker Strauss (UC Riverside), and Rowan Brumbaugh (Tulane) did not make the tourney.

Wasn’t UC Riverside wrapped up in that NIT drama with South Alabama? UC initially declined an invitation, then accepted it, which forced South Alabama out of the tournament.

Ah, yes. They did indeed play in the NIT last night, and got pasted by Santa Clara. Parker Strauss did not play for some reason.

Strauss had a run of 6 DNPs in February, but worked his way back to 11 minutes a game in the final 2 Big West games before being a DNP in a 39 point loss to Santa Clara last night.

In 10 Tier A+B games, he got 26 %Min, involved on 16.1 %Poss, 44.4% eFG, 5.7% AstRate, 39.4 %TORate(!), 33% from 3FG (6/18), which comprised of 66% of his total FGA.

Riverside is kp 158, finished 4th in the Big West, which is rated 12th out of 31 conferences.

JCJ ended up starting 27 games for the Aztecs, who ended up kp 53 and the last of the 5 Mountain West teams to get in.

In 18 Tier A+B games, he had 62.9 %Min, 16.2 %Poss, 16.5%Shots, 51% eFG, OReb%/DReb% 4.7/15.1, Block Rate of 3.3, and FTRate of 29.8. He was 64.5% (20/31) from FT, 45.1% (32/71) from 2FG, and 42.4% from 3FG (14/33). His best showing was helping the 'Tecs beat Houston 73-70 in OT, where he logged 16 on 9 (3/4 from 3FG!), 5 reb, 1 stl, 1 TO in on 15 %Poss in 36 minutes.

He matured into a very useful player, and if he stuck around, he and Nix would've been a formidable defensive frontcourt.

Bamisile was a beast in the A-10...been to so many schools had forgotten he had NU connections.

Would have been a nice rotation guy this year. Especially when Barnhizer went down. A little more offense than Mullins.
