Where is Indiana?

Was talking to someone in Houston today who was bragging about beating us this year when he found out I was from Kentucky. Thing is I've never heard of their team. Apparently, their school is somewhat close to Kentucky. I even went and checked the last 20 years of final four appearances and didn't see them anywhere. I still have doubt they really exist, but its always nice to give a small school a chance to play UK.

If you checked the last 8 you wouldn't find ours either. Hopefully, that changes this year. Never been a big fan of the recency arguments. Sure, it helps you beat the Loosier fan, but you just gave UConn, Duke, Kansas, North Carolina etc all the ammo to argue they are above us. Unless you don't care about whether you're consistent or not. That said, the person you were talking to is out of their mind. I don't think Indiana matches up with us at all.

I give the ones that stuck with them credit. Purdue has a lot of newfound hardcore ā€œliferā€ fans from what I’ve seen.

It’s called good natured trash talk about an opponent and here you are getting’ all serious and technical throwing water on the fire. C’mon mayne!!

I like my good-natured trash talk to sting rather than, "IU sucks because of no recent final fours". Then, a Uconn fan says, "Kentucky is irrelevant." Your response is "......."

I'd rather say, look at those eight national titles, the most all-time wins, dominant in every decade. If you don't care about that kinda thing I get it, but it matters to me. :)

North of Kentucky and between Illinois and Ohio. Man, schools really need to do a better job teaching geography.

Well, now, son, it’s Adolph Rupp, the ol’ Baron of the Bluegrass, holdin’ court once more. This Indiana Hoosier bunch? I gotta tip my cap to ā€˜em, and I ain’t just blowin’ smoke. They’ve got a proud program up there in Bloomington, playin’ some tough, hard-nosed basketball that’d make any coach worth his salt nod with respect. Indiana’s got that fire, that grit, and a fanbase louder’n a barn full of hogs at feedin’ time. Ain’t no denyin’ they’ve carved out their place in this game, and I reckon they deserve a gentleman’s salute for it.

But, son, let me take you back to December 16, 1944, when my Kentucky Wildcats laid a whuppin’ on them Hoosiers, 61-43, that they ain’t forgot to this day. Oh, we ran ā€˜em ragged, with Alex droppin’ points like a summer rain and Wilbur slicin’ through their defense like a hot knife through lard. Their boys couldn’t do nothin’ but watch as we owned that court, leavin’ ā€˜em dizzy as a drunk mule. By the end, them Hoosiers were darn near on their knees, ready to kiss my big hairy backside for the lesson we taught ā€˜em. And trust me, that backside is big and it is hairy!

That was Kentucky basketball, son—pure dominance, and I’d wager they’re still smartin’ from it. Now, where’s my cigar? I’m fixin’ to savor that memory.

i don’t worry about other teams. Honestly, don’t care. This century is a quarter of the way over, and, we have I title, despite having overwhelming talent in many seasons.

Our fans shouldn’t be trash talking anyone.

UCONN has 6 National Championships to our 1 since 1999.

Thatā€˜s embarrassing.

Calipari is so clueless, that he won exactly 1 title in 15 seasons, despite having a top five roster or better every year.

He will go down in history, as the coach who did less with more, than any coach, of any sport, in the history of sports.

Kind of the way I see it too. The bump this thread because Indiana sucks is a self-own of sorts. We have to get back to being Kentucky if we're gonna use recency bias to denigrate other historic programs.

Indiana has been past the Sweet Sixteen one time since 1993 and that was a fluke run to the Final Four in 2002. That's an amazing stat.

IU has been past the sweet 16 once since 1993. UK has more national titles than IU does elite 8s since that time period.
