Which BIG XII team has been the most impressive in the first 2 weeks? IMO Baylor has been the most impressive so far but its still early in the season.

Kansas is awful as well as Texas Tech and Texas. Just bad football from those three. But of the three Texas has the potential to win some games.

I believe The Mountaineers will be above average. The Maryland game will help us as fans get a better handle on what to expect as the season progresses.

Baylor beat SMU, 56-12, and Lamarr, 66-31 after being tied at, I believe, 17.
I'd say that's on a par with WVU beating Georgia Southern, 44-0, and Liberty, 41-17.
Impressive numbers, but not that significant till the Big 12 season starts. If both can maintain anything like those numbers in the Big 12, then they will be contenders for the Big 12 title and maybe even the national playoffs.

TCU beat Minnesota, 23-17, which is more impressive than what Baylor and WVU did. 70-7 over Stephen Austin doesn't mean nearly as much. So was Oklahoma surviving Tennessee in two overtimes.

Kansas looks like a lost cause. The rest of the Big 12 still hasn't clarified the pecking order.

The first two weeks, in most cases, are tuneup games for the real deal. Even Maryland probably won't be the litmus test that Oklahoma will be. And Oklahoma State, Baylor and TCU. All four in a row in October.

If WVU is 7-0, we'll all be thinking Big 12 title and national playoffs. Let's hope it happens. With this defense, you never know what can be accomplished.

It's been tough to catch all of the games but TCU and Baylor look good but other times they haven't impressed as much as expected. They still have to be the favorites along with Oklahoma.

OU found a way to win at Tenn when they were down 17-0 in front of a hostile crowd and not doing a thing offensively. If you ask me, OU because of who they beat and how they beat them. If we had their D-line, we might actually run the table.

Okla did look good in silencing a rather hostile crowd on Sat night from a deep deficit! TCU going in on opening wknd and taking out Minny on the road has to give them big confidence. Baylor fooling around with Lamar early did not look good imo.
I was forced to take Tex Tech in my pool this wk (must take 1 from each P5 playing another P5 weekly without using them again through the year, kind of suicide style), they actually give me more confidence than Texas at this point with the matchups, which says quite a bit about the state of the Longhorn program....

OU has to be the most impressive because they beat a ranked SEC team on the road.

Overall, this conference is very average, half the teams suck. If WVU cannot challenge for the conference title this year with this senior +experienced defense, it's time to reevaluate the head coach.

No. Dana always loses to at least 1-2 teams he shouldn't and our running game would still be lackluster.
Numbers....you have really changed your tune from the last few years which I do respect, we are looking for just win at this point imo...I have a good feel about the team this year ( better than last year for certain even with the daunting road games we're about to face), if he goes less than 8-5 I'm with you...what I'm really looking for is a victory over at least 1 of the Okla/KSt drought, and win the ones we should(this year I would include Texas at home on that 100%), with a respected bowl VICTORY...anything else is gravy....much desired gravy....

Toronto, you are absolutely right that a win over Texas this season needs to be a must.

In fact, from what we've seen in the early going, there may never be an easier opportunity to go unbeaten at home for however long we're members of the Big 12.

Underperformance at home has been one area that's held back the program for many years now across multiple coaches (and, oddly, is the lone thing at which Stewart excelled).

People talk about taking the next step as a program, but realistically no school can do that until they become an absolute nightmare to beat in their own stadium.

The 2015 home slate is set up on a silver platter to start repairing that foundation. Whether our team can take advantage remains to be seen.

I don't think we can judge a team fully until they play a team on their level. When teams play FCS opponents or even G5 opponents (outside of Boise or BYU), I honestly throw those out regardless of the score. So far, the only teams that have gone on the road to play legit opponents are Texas, TCU & Oklahoma. Texas got steamrolled @ ND & Iowa State lost by 2 TDs at home to Iowa so they look to be teams that are destined to finish right in front of Kansas in the Big 12 - although I wouldn't completely count Texas out with the talent they have.

I would rank Oklahoma at the top of the league right now based on their win over Tennessee on the road in that environment. I would put TCU #2 as they beat a solid but unspectacular Minnesota team on the road. Baylor has played absolutely NO ONE, but I will put them #3 by default. The rest is still up in the air. I wouldn't count out Texas Tech as a potential upper half finisher just yet. Their defense is really, REALLY bad, but they might end up battling Baylor for the top offense in the league (Baylor #1 nationally & Texas Tech #2 nationally in total offense - Texas Tech #3 nationally in scoring offense - Baylor #4 nationally). They are not going to be an easy win imo with an offense like that.

IMO, the middle of the pack hierarchy is yet to be determined between WVU, Oklahoma State, Kansas State & possibly Texas Tech. And maybe 1 from that group can move into the top 3 at some point (although I don't see Texas Tech having that ability with that defense). Still way too early. We'll find out more once league play begins. It will be interesting to see how Texas Tech does down in Fayetteville this weekend. I'm sure the Hogs are ready to take out their frustrations after that embarrassing loss on Saturday.

1. Oklahoma
2. TCU
3. Baylor
4. WVU
5. Oklahoma State
6. Kansas State
7. Texas Tech
8. Texas
9. Iowa State
10. Kansas

We need to beat Texas at home this year. Everyone loves the fact that we either Texas or Oklahoma at home each year. Right now we are 0-3 in those games and If we do not beat Texas that streak could stretch a while.
