UK is 15-6 and ranked #14. We've beaten 5 top 15 teams and lost to five mediocre to poor teams. We've pretty much lost the games we thought we'd win and won the games we thought we'd lose. Assuming most of us would have been happy to be 15-6 and ranked #14 at this time when MP got hired and we had the same record as now would you rather we'd beaten OSU, Vandy, and Arky but lost to Duke, Gonzaga, and UT or the way it has actually turned out?

It's very frustrating to know that pretty much all your losses should have been wins but the joy I got from those wins outweighs my disappointment from the losses so I'd take the way it actually turned out over winning the ones we thought we'd win and losing the ones we thought we'd lose.

Barring something crazy happening, like losing out, he gets a pass this year. I think also think it’s completely fair to be concerned about how we’ve looked the past month.

I would of traded any 2 of our top 15 wins for a win Sat . 3 for a blow out of Ark Saturday. Call that irrational and dumb if ya like but it's just honestly the way I feel about it. Worst loss emotionally as a UK fan. Or tied with Laetner, wisky, an Marquette.

I sure won't call how you feel irrational or dumb since how you feel is how you feel but to me it was just a regular season SEC game that we lost. It didn't cause me 1/100 of the pain those other losses and a few more caused.

Same here.

I said at the beginning of the year to me this game wasn't a huge deal. What matters is that we have a better overall season compared to Arkansas.......which we are.

Winning this game and not advancing further then them would be far worse.

But overall, I don't really care about Arkansas. I just want us to have a good season and advance as far as we can.

Zags are 16-7 and aren't even ranked now. So I might trade a Zags loss for an Arkansas win.

Way ahead of schedule for a makeshift band of misfits acquired after the vast majority of prospects and transfers had already decided with a 100% bare roster. I'm elated and would MUCH rather have lost our head scratchers and beat the top teams we've beaten than have lost all of those and cleaned up on the middling guys. I mean we've beaten every 'rival' or hated team we've played really.

34 and 6, Baby!

CMP inherited and empty cupboard. Piecemealed together a lineup of midmajor honorable mentions that have battled injuries and has a top 20 team.

Let him recruit who he wants and let the cake bake. Then we can bellyache and yell faaar Pope
He had an empty canvas and nearly his pick of the transfers at the time.

Don't agree with the OP's premise: "lost to five mediocre to poor teams".

Clemson is 18-4 and ranked. Vandy is 16-5 and also ranked. Both games were close and on the road.

Lunardi has both UGA and OSU in the NCAA tournament.

That leaves Arkansas, the perfect storm for a UK loss. Highly motivated ex-coach and three former players with a week to prepare. Meanwhile, our point guards are a small forward and an undersized freshman who did not play the point in high school; and our PF had not practiced for weeks. What could go wrong?

Fair points. I'll agree that those teams are mostly better than mediocre to poor, just mostly not as good as a few teams we've beaten.

The big wins count moreso than the losses in the eyes of the committee.

Most of the losses we had aren't even considered to be "bad" losses.

Every team we lost to is in the Kenpom top 50 right now.

You take what we did every single time.

Absolutely this.

Take the marquee wins for the resume. Losing to Cal sucks because it's Cal, but objectively, losing to Arkansas at home isn't as bad as the year we lost at home to a South Carolina team that finished 11-20.

Those other losses we have are all Q1 losses.

Yep, Bo and Luke really piss me off. Those Perry county folks are ok though.
